Right here is the brake master cylinder, and it takes DOT3 brake fluid, as you can see on the cap. Inside you want the fluid to be a yellow color, almost like apple juice. If it's not, you're going to want to replace it. Typically, they say that every three years you should be replacing your brake fluid. Not many people do, but it is good practice because brake fluid is hygroscopic, which means it takes on water and absorbs water out of the air. That makes your braking not work so well. You always want to have new, nice, clean fluid in your master cylinder. On the side of the master cylinder you can see the minimum level and the maximum level. You want your fluid to be in between those so that you can obviously stop appropriately.

Towards the front of the engine and the front of the battery is your washer fluid right here. It can pretty much be filled nearly to the top. There's not really a minimum or a maximum on that because it's just washer fluid. It doesn't really do anything super important.

Right here is your coolant overflow reservoir. This is where you want to put your coolant if it is low. Down on the bottom of the coolant overflow reservoir you can see there's a low and a high mark. It's a little bit tough to see, but right here is the low mark, right here is the full mark. You want to be somewhere in between there with the engine warm.

Over here you've got your engine oil filler. These are always a little tough to open on Subarus for some reason. I think it's the rubber seal on them. This is where you put your engine oil if you're doing an oil change or if you're just topping it off. In this case, you can see the cap says 0W-20 right here, so that's what type of oil it takes. Right over here is the dipstick for the engine oil. You can wipe it off with a clean rag. Ideally you want your oil level to be in between these two dots, so we'll check it. Looks like it's actually a little bit above.
