Hi. I'm Mike from 1A Auto. We've been selling auto parts for over 30 years!

Hi, everyone. Sue here at 1A Auto. Today, on our '03 Tundra, we're going to show you how to check your coolant level in your overflow tank, and when and when not to check your radiator fluid out of the hot tank. If you need any parts for your car, click on the link below and head on over to 1aauto.com.

Hood release on this Tundra is located on the driver side right at the knee panel, has a picture of the hood. Pull on the cable. The safety latch is located to the left of the symbol. You'll feel the lever right there. You push up on it. Lift your hood up.

This is the overflow tank for this particular vehicle. There are no markings for low or high, or sometimes it says cold or hot, so what I would go by is the depth of this. I would go by this crease they have right here in that tank, and I would say that's supposed to be hot. When a vehicle's engine is hot, the coolant is going to be higher. It expands. When it's cold, it's going to be down low. If this vehicle has been sitting for a long time and it's down here, that's perfect. That's right where it should be. Don't add. If it's empty, the tank is empty, you need to add and, more than likely, you have a leak.

Only open the radiator cap when the engine has been sitting for several hours and is cold. Push down and twist. It's got these notches, and lift up. If you look in there, the fluid is red, and that is a factory color for this vehicle. It looks nice and clean. You can use a hydrometer tester to test that but, on this particular model, we're doing a visual test.
