- Read the cap for the correct brake fluid
- Twist the brake fluid reservoir cap off counterclockwise
- Check that the brake fluid is between the minimum and maximum lines
- Add brake fluid as needed
- Twist the brake fluid reservoir cap on clockwise

Hey, everyone. Sue here from 1A Auto, and we have a 2012 Chevy Traverse in the shop. I'm just going to show you where the brake fluid reservoir is and how to top it off and what kind of fluid it takes. So once the hood's open, in front of the driver's seat you have the master cylinder right here, and this is the actual reservoir. The cover is clearly marked DOT 3 fluid. There is no denying that one. Nice, it says it right out there.
So I'm going to take the cover off. Looks in good shape. The rubber boot's still sealed, and I'm going to top it off. The max line indicator is right here, and it's just a smidge low. That happens through time with a little bit of evaporation. So I'm just going to top it off with my DOT 3 fluid. Put the cover back on. I don't like that. I want it to stay nice and stay. Perfect. Just like that.
