How to check the brake fluid on 2000 Nissan Pathfinder

step 1 :Opening the Hood
- Pull the hood release lever
- Release the safety latch
- Insert the prop rod to hold up the hood

step 2 :Checking the Brake Fluid Level
- Visually inspect for fluid to be between MIN and MAX line
- Add if necessary
- If removing the reservoir cap, clean around it to prevent contaminating the fluid

Alright, we're gonna pop the hood right here. Pull that lever. There's a release right here, if you go to the center, and to the right a little bit, right there. I'm gonna grab the prop rod, and put it right there.
Heres your brake fluid right here, you wanna make sure it's between the min line, and the max line. This one is right at the max line, if you can't see it you shake it a little bit, and sometimes it helps to see it better.
Okay, so if you were checking under the cap you wanna wipe the cap, you don't wanna get any dust, or debris in the brake fluid. You can take the cap off, and you can check it in there. As you can see the fluids not too bad, a little bit dark. But this takes a DOT 3 brake fluid. You need to close it up just like that.
