How to Check and Fill Transmission Fluid 2008-12 Ford Escape

1. step 1 :Checking the Transmission Fluid 0:29

   • Pull the lever near the footrest to release the hood
   • Push the lever underneath the hood toward the passenger side to raise the hood and use the prop rod to keep it lifted
   • Ideally, drive the car for about 20 miles so that the engine is at the normal operating temperature
   • With your foot on the brake, shift through all of the gears a few times before shifting back into park
   • Leave the engine running
   • Pull out the dipstick and wipe it off with a rag
   • Reinsert the dipstick
   • Pull out the dipstick and check to see whether the fluid level is between the minimum and maximum lines

2. step 2 :Adding the Transmission Fluid 2:12

   • Use a funnel to add the appropriate fluid as necessary to the dipstick tube
   • Insert the dipstick
