Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.

In this video we're going to show you how to do an oil and filter change on a 2001 Ford Escort ZX2. The tools needed are going to be a jack and jack stands, a 13 millimeter wrench, an oil filter wrench, and a drain pan.

Remove your drain plug on the back side of the oil pan with a 13 millimeter socket, and have a pan underneath ready to catch the oil. Then you can just go ahead and let it completely drain out. Put the drain plug back in just to keep it from dripping. Tighten it back up.

Get the oil filter wrench adjusted. Have your oil drain pan underneath when you pull off your filter. I'm going to just wipe down the back of the block, and the surface on the oil filter housing. Make sure it's clean.

For a new filter I'm going to use some fresh oil and lubricate the O-ring. Put it back up. Screw it right back into place. Once I feel it start to touch I'll just give it an extra quarter turn. I'm just going to refill the oil.

After you've put about four quarts of oil in, go ahead and start up the engine. Let it build oil pressure and fill the oil filter. I'm just going to go ahead now and recheck the oil and make sure it's at the proper level.
