Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.

In this video, we're going to show you how to do an oil change on this 2002 Chevy Suburban. The items you'll need for this include a 15mm socket and ratchet, an oil filter wrench, oil, an oil filter, and a drip pan.

Your oil drain plug is located right here. Using a 15mm socket and ratchet, just remove the drain plug and make sure your drip pan is underneath. Just let the oil drain out. When it stops, replace the drain plug and tighten it up. Your oil filter is located just up to the left from the side of your oil pan. You can just twist out the filter. Again, make sure your drip pan's underneath. Just let this drain for a little bit. There will be some oil trapped behind the filter. Then just remove the filter the rest of the way.

As you can see, we have the vehicle up on a lift, but actually there's enough clearance under these vehicles usually to get to these without putting them on a lift or jack and jack stands. Take some fresh oil and wipe it around the rim of your new oil filter. Then clean the area where the oil filter goes and feed the new oil filter up into place. Just twist it in until it's tight. Once the gasket seats or it stops spinning, twist it another three-quarters turn, which you can usually do by hand, or use a wrench.

Obviously you remove your oil fill cap and refill the oil. You probably add about four quarts. Just check it on the dipstick.

Once you've got enough oil in, you'll want to start the vehicle. Let it run for a little bit and make sure you have good oil pressure. Then once you've run it, you'll check the oil again and fill it up until it's within the marks on the dipstick. You should be all set.
