How To Change Engine Oil 2003-09 Toyota 4Runner

1. step 1 :Removing the Oil Filter 0:18

   • Raise and support the vehicle if necessary
   • Remove the oil cap
   • Inspect other fluid levels, if necessary.
   • Remove the oil filter and allow it to drain into a pan

2. step 2 :Installing the Oil Filter 3:13

   • Clean the oil filter mounting surface
   • Apply fresh oil to the filter gasket ring
   • Install the oil filter hand tight, and then an extra 1/4 - 1/2 turn

3. step 3 :Draining the Oil 3:59

   • Remove the 14 mm drain plug
   • Allow the oil to drain into a pan
   • Remove the old drain plug gasket
   • Install a new drain plug gasket
   • Check the oil pan for gasket material, and clean it as necessary
   • Install the 14 mm drain plug

4. step 4 :Filling the Oil 5:59

   • Fill with oil type and amount specified in the vehicle manual
   • This particular vehicle takes 5.5 qts of 5W-30 oil
   • Pour the oil into the fill opening using a funnel
   • Install the oil fill cap
   • Run the engine briefly to allow the oil to cycle through
   • Lower or move the vehicle to a level surface, if necessary
   • Check the oil level
   • Top off as necessary

5. step 5 :Reset the Maintenance Light 8:47

   • Turn the key to the on position
   • Set the mileage display to the main odometer display
   • Turn the power off
   • Hold the trip reset button down and turn the key to the on position
   • Continue holding the button until the maintenance light turns off
