Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
So, this is an assembly out of a Mercury Mountaineer. I was always just curious of how the child-lock works. So, this switch right here is a little child-lock switch. So, you can see at this position it's unlocked. At this position it's locked. This little tab right here would normally come out of there.
I was always kind of curious how it works. It's actually just two arms, and this is on this vehicle. So, I'm pulling on here. When I pull on here, that's like pulling on your inside door handle. I pull on there and this is the unlocked. You can see this whole assembly move. If I put the child-lock on, this cam here moves back and you can pull on it and all it moves is this one lever that doesn't actuate anything. So there the child-lock on. There's the child-lock off. I just thought that was kind of cool.
