Andy shows you several quick and easy DIY repairs that you can do yourself, instead of paying labor fees to someone else!
In this video, I'm going over some quick and easy repairs that you can do yourself on this 2000 to 2006 Chevy Tahoe. We're gonna start with headlights. I know that's a little bit intimidating for someone who doesn't do a lot of DIY repairs on a car, but these are some of the easiest headlights and headlight bulbs to replace. You just take this little lever right here, this just slides out, and then there's another one right here. These pins, they slide right up. And then the whole light assembly, just slides right out. Look how easy that is. To replace the bulbs, twist this to the left. That's the high beam bulb. And then there's a connector, just disconnect that. And then the low beam is right here. So if you're gonna replace the whole assembly or the bulbs, this is exactly how you do it. And slide it back in place, just line everything up. Put the pins back in, lock it down. Probably the easiest headlights ever.
Next, let's talk about the air filter, which is located right under this box right here. It's fairly easy to change. Your engine's gotta breathe, and you want it to breathe clean air that's going to give you better fuel mileage and prevent other problems down the road. There's four screws that hold it in. You're gonna use a Torx bit to get those out. One, two, and then there's two more further down. And then this slides out, pull the air filter out, put the new one in, put it back together, and you're good to go.
Let's talk about the battery. Your engine needs to be able to start for you to drive your car, so you need a good battery. If your battery is over five years old, or it looks like it's all corroded, you gotta replace it. And this one is fairly easy to replace. There's a bar right here, don't be intimidated by that. There's two bolts, just take those off. Use a 10-millimeter socket. Take that bar out of the way. To disconnect the battery, you're gonna use an 8-millimeter wrench. Take off the negative terminal first, set that aside. Then take the positive off. Then underneath here, there is a mount. So you're gonna need a 13 millimeter socket to get that mount off. Take that mount off, then you can pull the old battery out, put the new one in, and reinstall it the same way it came out. You always when you're installing the battery wanna hook up the positive side first, and then the negative side.
And finally, let's replace the wiper blades. You gotta be able to see when it's pouring out, so make sure you have good wiper blades. Double-check them, make sure they're not fraying. Underneath here, there should be a little button that you push up and then you could slide them off. These ones are a little bit different. These have a lock like this, and then it just slides off. They will pretty much all slide off like that, and there you go. Either way, they're gonna have a little hook that you hook onto this arm right here. So slide them back in position and make sure they're locked down.
