Andy shows you some easy service items that you can do yourself at home instead of paying labor fees and add on costs at a service station!
In this video I'm going to show you how to do some quick and easy repairs that will save you some money on this 2005 to 2010 Volkswagen Jetta.
Let's start with wiper blades. You got to be able to see when it's raining out. You don't want bad wiper blades. Now you can replace them while the wipers are in this position, but we're going to put it in service mode. With the transmission in park if you have an automatic, if you have a manual, put it in neutral and put the parking brake up, turn the key in the on position and then turn it off and then push the wipers down one click. There they are. Then it's a lot easier to replace the blades because they're in the upright position. You can just slide this up. There's a little button right here. Push the button down. Slide the blades out. Install the new blades the same way. And you can even access the passenger side very easily. To take it out of service mode, just turn the key on and then just hit the wipers one more time and then you're good to go.
For better fuel economy and to make sure your engine runs right, you want to replace the air filter. It's underneath this cover. It's pretty easy to replace. There's a couple screws that are on the front snorkel of this. There's a worm clamp that you need to remove and then the cover just pretty much lifts off. The air filter's located underneath here. Take a Philips head screwdriver, take these screws out. Pull the cover off. Put the new air filter in. Put it back together the same way it came out.
The battery is located right here underneath this cover. You can pop this cover off. When you remove the battery, you want to disconnect the negative side first and then the positive and then the clamp is down below here. Take that clamp off there. Pull the battery out. Put the new one in. When you put it back together, complete opposite of taking it out. Put the clamp on. Put the positive on first and then put the negative on.
The cabin filter which is in the usual spot underneath the glove box. Now there's normally a panel that comes off right here and you take a straight blade screwdriver, take the two pins out. And then right here is where it's located. You just slide this door to the side. Slide this down and there's the cabin filter. So replace that so you don't get any dust and debris. It'll make you breathe a lot easier.
Tail lights and tail light bulbs, they're easy to access. You open the trunk and there's a little door on the backside. Open this up. There's two connectors right there, a top connector and a lower connector. Push down on the two tabs, those two tabs. There's a couple tabs right here, slide those up. You can just slide this piece out and there you can replace the bulbs right there. If you want to replace the whole assembly, just take those two nuts out right there and right there.
