Check out this video to find out where to look if you hear clunking or banging noises when you drive over bumps. The 1A Auto expert will give you some tips
Hey, everyone. It's Len from 1A Auto. Today, I want to go over a couple things with you, and this is the same on any vehicle. But for this particular vehicle, this is a 2010 Nissan Altima. If you're driving down the road, and you hear a little clunking every bump you hit, coming from the rear--whether it's the left or the right, there's a couple things that you can check.
So if you want to come on over here, I'd like to point out a sway bar bushing, which is this piece right here. It's rubber. This is your sway bar, and then of course the body of the sub frame.
But what we're going to show you is, I'm hoping you can hear that through my mic, when the rubber gets stretched out over time, it makes it so your bar can move around. That bar moves around, and it causes a little bit of a noise. It's even worse when you're actually on the road and there's a lot more pressure involved. Something else that you can look in to, is it could also be a sway bar link. It might be easier to see. I'm not sure how to see it from your angle, but right here--this is called a sway bar link.
A lot of times these will go bad, because there's a ball an socket right here. This part is the socket, and the ball's on the inside. When it gets worn out you'll hear a knocking sound or a banging sound over bumps. This is a typical thing to replace, and also the sway bar bushings. Generally speaking, if you can I would do those at the same time. If you need those parts, or any other parts you can always check in to 1aauto.com and we'll be sure to take care of you.
