What are Tapered Bearings and Why Use Them?

Tapered bearings are better than roller ball bearings at handling forces exerted on the bearing during cornering (known as axial load) in trucks and large cars.

Roller ball bearings have spherical ball bearings between two straight rings (called races). Tapered bearings use tapered rollers shaped like flat-topped cones and two races angled from the outside to the inside of the bearing. The greater the angle, the more axial load the bearing can handle.

Your model came from the factory with tapered bearings. This type of bearing handles cornering forces better for trucks and large cars. Roller ball bearings work well for smaller cars, but replacing a tapered bearing with a roller ball bearing will result in increased wear and faster failure.

Excellent quality with great customer service!!
After calling 1A Auto and explaining my situation, they made sure to get me the right parts and shipped them same day so I could fix my sons car before he went off to college. The hub assemblies were identical to the OEM ones and were easy to install. Excellent people to deal with and will look no further for future needs!!

Great part
We got our parts in a timely fashion and for a great price. There was a small amount of damage done which we are assuming it is from when the package was being shipped. Not enough to make the part malfunction though.

2007 Ford Exploer Wheel Bearing Hubs
I was a bit hesitant at first about these wheel bearing's based on the price compared to other sellers. I carefully compared these side by side to the original OEM wheel bearings and couldn't tell a difference. I was even surprised at how well the ABS wiring compared to the originals. Everything fit and connected exactly as the originals making the installation simple and straightforward. It is so nice to have the same quiet ride as I did when I purchased the vehicle new.
I would highly recommend these parts and would also like to thank 1A Auto on their fast shipping.
Lastly I would like to comment on the great video's that 1A Auto provides. Having watched the video, I was very confident and prepared to handle replacement.
