Should You Purchase This TRQ Wheel Bearing & Hub Assembly?

If you're having trouble with your front wheel bearings and hubs, this hub assembly pair from TRQ will get your truck or SUV rolling right again. TRQ makes high-quality aftermarket hubs with a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects. These hubs match or exceed the performance of the originals. These hubs use tapered bearings, just like the ones that came on your vehicle. Some manufacturers sell roller ball bearings, which aren't as good at dealing with cornering forces for larger vehicles like yours.

TRQ wheel hubs are also guaranteed to fit your vehicle. This pair will fit 2006-2010 Ford Explorers and Sport Tracs and Mercury Mountaineers with five lug wheel. They'll go on just like the original parts. That makes them easy to install. You'll have to raise and support the front end of our vehicle and remove the wheel. Then, separate the hub from the axle and the steering knuckle. After that, you can install the new hub, and bolt everything back together. You can see a video and instructions for this repair in the "How-To & Toools" tab.

Wheel bearings can wear out over time, especially if sand or salt manage to find their way into the bearing. Worn bearings often make a grinding noise that gets louder or faster as you speed up. The noise may also get worse when you take a turn. Bad bearings can also lead to uneven tire wear. If you have any of these symptoms you'll want to replace your bearings. It is possible to replace only the bearing rather than the entire tub, but it is difficult and requires a specialty tool called a wheel bearing press. For-do it-yourselfers, we recommend replacing the wheel bearing and hub assembly.

It's a good idea to replace your hubs in pairs to keep your ride even. Also, if one hub wears out, it's likely the other one will need replacement in the future.

What are Tapered Bearings and Why Use Them?

Tapered bearings are better than roller ball bearings at handling forces exerted on the bearing during cornering (known as axial load) in trucks and large cars.

Roller ball bearings have spherical ball bearings between two straight rings (called races). Tapered bearings use tapered rollers shaped like flat-topped cones and two races angled from the outside to the inside of the bearing. The greater the angle, the more axial load the bearing can handle.

Your model came from the factory with tapered bearings. This type of bearing handles cornering forces better for trucks and large cars. Roller ball bearings work well for smaller cars, but replacing a tapered bearing with a roller ball bearing will result in increased wear and faster failure.

Trailered 800 miles
Money was tight, was planning vacation. Bearing just went three weeks before a much needed break. I ordered "The White Box" bearings. They came promptly, were correct and I installed them one week before taking the travel trailer out to the coast, an 800 mile round trip for some camping. The bearings are fine and I have no regrets getting them from 1A Auto. Hopefully they will hold up for another 50 to 60 k miles. They were a cinch to replace and came with everything needed.

2007 Ford Exploer Wheel Bearing Hubs
I was a bit hesitant at first about these wheel bearings based on the price compared to other sellers. I carefully compared these side by side to the original OEM wheel bearings and couldnt tell a difference. I was even surprised at how well the ABS wiring compared to the originals. Everything fit and connected exactly as the originals making the installation simple and straightforward. It is so nice to have the same quiet ride as I did when I purchased the vehicle new. I would highly recommend these parts and would also like to thank 1A Auto on their fast shipping. Lastly I would like to comment on the great videos that 1A Auto provides. Having watched the video, I was very confident and prepared to handle replacement. Andrew

Great part
We got our parts in a timely fashion and for a great price. There was a small amount of damage done which we are assuming it is from when the package was being shipped. Not enough to make the part malfunction though.
