Did the job.
How do you not give a good rating to a part that works. I am coming from an angle of a guy that knows very little about how to fix anything. I always say " put a tool in my hand and my IQ drops 50 points". But what got me looking at doing this job myself was the video put out by A1 on how to replace the Door Lock Actuator, which ultimately lead me to their website and finding that the part I got was cheaper than anywhere else I looked. My VW Golf is old with a lot of miles on it and I was satisfied with getting a non OEM part and doing the job myself. Only criticism was that maybe the part took a little longer to get but it went from East coast to West coast just after Christmas.

So far so good! installed 10 days ago, takes about an hr per door with average mechanical skills and these work same as factory parts. if you have a 2000 Beetle and have issues were you have to pull door handle twice to open and your security, locking system isn't quite functioning correctly and creating a small battery drain issue these. what a u-tube video on how to replace actuator first, you will also need special tool bit to remove actuator bolts from inside door jamb.

This not being a oem product will I have issues with operation and installation. I was advised about vw electrical sensitivity. Do you need the vin number?

BEST ANSWER: I installed one of these on the driver side door of my 2001 Jetta TDI. It works perfectly and in fact fixed all the gremlins I was having with chimes not working correctly, courtesy light not working and the door self locking if I closed it with the key in the ignition (should not do that).

The only quirk is that this new item pops the safety lock on the door on the first pull of the inside lever if you want to exit it takes a second pull of the lever to actually unlatch the door from the post and swing open. If the door is already out of the safe position (button popped up) then it opens the door on first actuation.

The OEM latch from 2001 did not have this dual safety function. Takes a bit of getting accustomed to but no big issue. Has been working perfectly since installed in 2014. Have not observed any sensitivity issues.

Follow a guide (plenty of videos on how to online) or go to the Jetta forums for step by step.
