Hello Dale, You do not have to disconnect your batter to install the variable valve timing solenoids. Just make sure the car is off and the key is out of the ignition.

Are intake and exhaust actuators the same?

Some autos are different and use different, but these I believe are the same because the exhaust has 4 camshafts on this engine. Engines with 4 cams uses 4 same actuators. But check the particular engine before final judgement.

I have a 2014 Buick LaCrosse 3.6L and would like to know do the solenoids need any O rings? Because in the video I didn't see any when the mechanic took out the old solenoids or when he put the new ones in for the first video

The seal will be located on the engine, not on the item itself. We would suggest checking the seal to see if it needs to be replaced.

there should be o ring seals still in the block after you twist and slide out the old solenoid, ,take your time and have a good magnetic tool handy ,as dropped number 10 mounting bolts are difficult to find! but no ,i did not recieve new o rings in purchase

The rings are inside the head/engine. If you are having the engine rebuilt you will find them in the rebuild kit. They are a synthetic made part and shouldnt need replacement every time or even all that often.
