On the quest for a good rack for my 96 4runner this was my last resort. A1 Cardone reman's were absolute garbage so I decided to go with 1A autos brand new one. Cheaper and full matching specs, feels good so far. We'll see how long it lasts.

This is a well made rack and pinion for this vehicle. If you know Toyota parts, this would have cost three times as much. This has been in the vehicle for two months and driven daily, with no issues reported. Thank you

Seems to be a good quality unit at a very good price and no core exchange needed. A couple of observations: the metal fluid lines were smaller diameter than the original Toyota lines and their configuration was also different. This made it rather difficult to get the passenger side bushing (must purchase separately if yours is worn) and bracket re-installed. Overall very pleased with this unit and vehicle steering feels great..and no leaks!

Good price ,part looks to be same as oem. How long it will last is the question? Shipping was fast, box was damaged by shipper,part survived on damaged. I will use 1aauto again in the future. Would be 5 stars if enough time in use pasted at 3 weeks not enough time.

Well, item purchased came on time as indicated. I had the rack professionally installed and power steering system flushed. The rack is new as stated in the description when I picked it out from 1A auto website, I went with a new rather than a refurbished unit. I then had the shop do a wheel alignment as you should. I've had the rack and pinion in my 4runner for only a couple of weeks. However, I have noticed several times when pulling out of a parking spot a binding in the steering along with a noise which I know is not normal. I am going to have to have it replaced by manufacture if it doesn't work itself out. I am giving 1A a 5-star rating because of the customer service I received from them. I know they did not make the rack and pinion. As for the part I purchased I would not recommend it at all. Part #1ASTG00006 rack and pinion appears to be junk, not worth the money spent because I have to pay for labor to replacement and align my 4runner.

I have had bad luck with aftermarket Racks. I had 2 from 1A and both had slop in the steering that my OEM did not. The only reason I needed a new Rack was because mine had rusted through. I now have a new aftermarket rack but I'm on my second one. The first new Rack also had slop in it. I have a mechanic friend who told me that he has swapped out 3 before finding one without slop in some vehicles. It's tough to find an OEM quality rack. Customer service 5 stars
Easy to install, seemed to work great, but started leaking within weeks.

Put this part in my 2000 4Runner and it is already leaking from the main seals. Hopefully will be able to get a refund and use money to get a different rack. Will not use the same brand as it failed too quickly.

Seems to have been working fine the last couple months but just realized both inner tie rod boots are filled with fluid and its leaking out both sides. I will be contacting for a refund or might give it one more shot and see if it holds up since it's not extremely hard to replace. We will see how long the 2nd one lasts. We will see how good there warranty is.

There wasn't a typical "core charge", and I was not asked to return anything to the supplier. I have the old rack sitting on my garage floor. Just too lazy to remember to take it someplace to dispose of it, and I can't see dropping it in the trash.

It was a while ago, but I believe the whole thing is chrome/aluminum. The flare nuts are the gold-ish galvanized.

the pictures on site are accurate, so yes gold hydraulic connectors, and also although the part is cheaper than other sites, I have this rack on a lifted 4runner with 33" tires and it is still doing well almost 2 years later so I do recommend this part

The vehicle I purchased the rack for was a 2-wheel drive Tacoma Pre-runner, worked great. Cant comment if it will work on the 4-wheel drive 4- runner.
