I need to take the head off my truck and have it tested and then resurfaced and then buy a head gasket kit to fix it. Would it be better to just buy this and put it on?

This would depend on the condition of your factory head. It may be easier to replace the existing with a new one.

I don't believe so but their cheap enough and save headaches and spend 50.00 on oem Toyota head gasket they are made so much better than felpros but the head. An bolts was a great investment mine uses no more antifreeze
