Remove the negative terminal from the battery. Just use a 8-millimeter wrench and just slide that out of the way. Take this cover off. You can just use a 8-millimeter socket. Remove this bolt. Just pull the cover up and slide forward. Loosen up this one clamp right here. Use a straight blade screwdriver. Loosen this clamp as well. Take this hose bracket off of the intake. Just use a use a trim tool and pop this off just like that. Grab it right here. Just rock it back and forth sliding it forward and also right here, pop it off and pull it up. Take this connector off. Just use a straight blade screwdriver. Just pry right here. There's a little lock tab on there. Pry that back then you can push down on the lock and slide the connector out. Now there's three nuts that hold it on. Take the nuts off. Use a 10-millimeter socket. All right, take those off. Sometimes it takes a little stud out. That's okay. Then just grab this hose. Give yourself a little more slack. Now take some pliers. You wanna make sure the vehicle's not hot when you're taking this off. You don't want the hose to spray coolant out at you. You might lose a little bit of coolant. So I'll take that hose off first. I'll just use some hose pliers. Try to twist the hose back and forth a little bit. Loosen it up. You'd always put some hose clamps on these to prevent more coolant from coming out. There's a little bit of coolant.
First clamp this off right here and take this clamp off right here. Just use needle-nose pliers or hose clamp pliers. I'll use my hose pliers and just twist it back and forth. Slide it up. Wipe out any dirt and it's always good to replace the seal. So pull the old seal out and put a new seal in. Take the new throttle body. Be very careful with this. You never wanna drop it. They're pretty sensitive. Slide the hose on. I'm gonna slide the clamp back in position. If your clamp is weak, you can always put a new clamp on that to line up where it was. Now it looks good. Slide it over the other hose. That hose is on there. I can take this clamp off and just move the hose clamp. It's in position. Slide the throttle body over the studs if you still had the studs in. If not, put the studs in and the nuts and torque these nuts to 89-inch pounds. And line this hose back up. Take a connector. Line it up. Lock it in place. Push the lock in. Now, take the snorkel and line it up. Put it on the throttle body and then over here on the airbox or over the mass airflow sensor, put this holder on just like that. With your straight blade screwdriver, tighten up the worm clamp. Snug that up and tighten this one up. Very good. Slide the cover in position and tighten down the bolt. Take the negative terminal.
Connect it to the battery. Use a 8-millimeter wrench and then tighten it up. Just make sure it's not wiggle loose. Looks good. With a scan tool attached to the vehicle, turn the key on. We go through the PCM. We wanna find TAC data, T-A-C data and we're looking for throttle position indicated angle and we're gonna do desired angle also and hit confirm. It's gonna take a minute. All right. This is with the vehicle not running. Now I'm gonna push down on the accelerator slowly. Watch the values change and they go up to 100% which is good. Let off the accelerator. Just make sure they come pretty close to each other. All right. I'm gonna let off. Now I'm gonna start the vehicle. You wanna just keep an eye on the RPMs. And that looks really good right there. The RPMs look good. Let it stabilize and that looks really good. Just check the throttle response. Just rev it up a little bit. Make sure everything seems to be working good before you decide to drive away. It's a good idea to drive some slow speeds before you actually take it out on the road. Just drive around in a parking lot or parking lot speeds. Make sure everything's good. It should be good to go.

Okay, friends, just a couple of things to think about before we get started on this throttle body job. There's gonna be coolant that goes through the lower area of this. So you're gonna want a little collection bucket. You wanna make sure you recycle any of that coolant. Safety first is a number one concern. So make sure you have hand protection and of course, eye protection. Let's get this down on the ground and then we'll get started. Let's get this engine cover off of here using an 8-millimeter.
I'm gonna get this outta here. Use your 8-millimeter once again. Loosen this clamp. You can also use a flat head screwdriver if you want. Do the same down on the far end, closest to the box. And then if your hoses have a little mount that are pressed into this, make sure you get those off of there. Go ahead and grab onto this. Give it a little wiggle and draw it away from the throttle body.
Here we are. Get this out of the way. The next thing we need to do is get our wiring off of here. If you were to look, you'll see this gray area, that's gonna be a lock. You need to press down on the center area and then kind of pull out a little bit. There we are. Now that we've got that unlocked, just press right on that black piece and then draw this off. I always take a peek to make sure my electrical looks good. If you see any funny colors, you're gonna wanna take care of that.
So now, if you were to look underneath the throttle body, you're gonna see where those coolant hoses run down and they connect in. Getting to those clamps while they're down like this can be kind of an issue. What I prefer to do is come right up here and I'll remove the three mounting nuts. There you go.
At this point, what you're probably gonna notice is when you tried to pull this off, it gets stuck. It's getting stuck here, and it's getting stuck on the stud. What I would like to do is remove this lower stud right here. You can do that using an E5 Torx bit, which is gonna look like this. It looks a lot like a star. Let's go ahead and get that stud out of there. There it is.
Now, that we have the stud out, let's go ahead and take this clamp and slide it down the hose, and get this hose off of here. This hose is probably gonna have some coolant in it. So like I said, hand protection, eye protection, and a nice collection bucket. Try to give it a nice squeeze. All right. Slide this down. I'm just gonna use a screwdriver, see if I can get this to move around a little bit. We wanna try to break it free from the throttle body assembly. Okay. Now that we've got it broken free, let's grab it with some nice long needle-nose. There we are. Awesome.
Grab onto this, lift it right up. We'll get this clamp off. As you can tell, somebody put this one on there a nice, interesting way. So I'm just gonna try to spin this with the clamp on there, see if I can make it so I can get to that. Okay. I do the same thing. Just try to break this free. Try to use some pliers, grab onto the hose carefully, and then I'm gonna use the throttle body to pry up against. So use a little bit of leverage here.
There it is, friends. Now that we've got that out of there, we have a nice, clear view of the gasket here. It's always a great idea to replace the gasket anytime that you're removing a part like this. So I'm just gonna pull it out. I'll take a look at it. And then we go. If for some reason you're not replacing the gasket, maybe you don't have access to one, or maybe you just didn't order one, it's always a great idea to remove it, give it a nice stretch. Make sure that it's not torn anywhere. If you can see any cracks or any areas that look like they might cause an air leak, you need to replace it, absolutely.
This one in all honesty, actually, it looks pretty fair. And if I give it a nice squeeze, it doesn't feel dry and brittle in any way. So like I said, if it's cracked or even if it's dry and brittle, you need to replace this gasket. Otherwise, it's highly recommended you replace it. In this case, I'm just gonna go with the assumption that you have a new one. At this point, you would just take it, slide it in here like this, and it should fit right in. We're gonna make sure it fits all the way around and it's seated perfectly.
That looks really great. Take a nice rag. Make sure you clean off any grease or debris that you might've gotten on there when you were installing it. Make sure nothing got inside of your air intake. Now, it's gonna be time to install our new throttle body. I'm gonna take it and put my hose on first, the one that's from the passenger side. This one was the hard one to get to.
Slide it round there. Grab that clamp, slide it down to exactly where I took it off of the hose originally, which is pretty much all the way down to the base. That feels good. Give it a nice tug. Make sure it's completely secured. If it slides off, the clamp's probably weak, in which case you'd want to replace it. Last thing you want is any coolant kind of seeping out of there after you just did that job.
I'll take this, line it up with those studs, slide it right on. At this point, I'm gonna take this other hose. We'll put that on the same way, push it all the way up against the throttle body, and then put your clamp on. Now, it's gonna be time to get this stud back in here. Go ahead and start it in by hand, and then we'll snug it up and torque it to 53 inch-pounds, 53 inch-pounds.
Now at this point, it's time to get the mounting nuts on. Let's go ahead and do all those. We'll bottom them out and then we're gonna torque them to 89 inch-pounds. Let's get our electrical reconnected. Make sure you lock it in. Give it a nice tug. Make sure it's 100% secured. It cannot be loose. Let's get this air lid [SP] back on. I like to put it on the throttle body first. Press it down, press it all the way in. If you wiggle it, it should help press it so it's all the way up against the throttle body. Take a double look. Just make sure it's completely secured against here. If for some reason it's not secure or it's even off at an angle, you could suck in dirty air and that would be very bad.
Let's get this on right here. That clamp, so it's sitting where it needs to sit. Awesome. Let's get this. Make sure you press that into where it needs to be. This goes over the top, by the way. Now, we're gonna snug up our clamps. Awesome. Let's get the cover on here. You wanna slide it back so it latches underneath those hooks and go ahead and bring it down so that your bolt lines up where it needs to go onto the top of the intake. Start it in there, snug it up, give it a check. Perfect.
The next thing you would wanna do is bleed out the air inside the cooling system. What I mean by that is when we remove those hoses from the throttle body, a little bit of coolant came out and a little bit of air came in. So what we need to do is make sure that the coolant is full inside the reservoir. Start up the vehicle, let it run. You're gonna notice you see some air bubbles bubbling up in here. Keep running it until you don't see any more air bubbles. Double-check the level, make sure it's where it needs to be for the full. Close this up and then take it for a nice road test.

All right. We want to disconnect the battery. Disconnect the negative cable, use an 8-millimeter ratchet wrench or a wrench, and slide that out of the way. All right. We're going to take this engine cover off. You can use an 8-millimeter socket and loosen up the screw right here. Slide it up and slide it out. We want to disconnect the battery. Disconnect the negative cable. Use an 8-millimeter ratchet wrench or a wrench and slide that out of the way. Now loosen up this worm clamp right here. You can use a straight blade screwdriver. And then also right here on the mass airflow sensor.
And then there's a little bracket right here holding the upper radiator hose on. This one's broken but just get in here with your screwdriver or pry tool and just pry that off and just grab the intake snorkel and just rock it back and forth. Slide it forward and take it off over here. Slide it out of the way. Disconnect the connector right here. There's a little lock tab. You got to slide this back, this little gray piece. Just to there, or you can take it off completely and then push down on this tab. Slide the connector off. Now there are three nuts that hold the throttle body on. Just use a 10-millimeter socket to take those nuts off.
All right. So you're going to notice that you can't take the throttle body off yet because the coolant hose has to go through it. You want to make sure that the engine is cool when you do this. You don't want to do this when the engine is hot because when you take those off, then it's going to blow off and it could potentially hurt you. So what we're going to do is the engine is cool and we're going to take these hose clamps or hose shutoffs, and we're going to install these so that we don't lose a lot of coolant.
If you don't have these, you can just let it drip out. But then you're going to have to top off the coolant a little bit more and potentially have a pan underneath to catch the coolant. So we'll have minimal coolant loss if we close these off. So put one on the hose right here, and then we'll put one on this hose as well. All right. Now we can pop these coolant hoses off, just use some coolant pliers, or you can use regular pliers as well. Just move this over and then take the line off. You can twist the line, see if it comes off or you can take a 90-degree pick and try to get it to loosen up. Just taking a peek and just trying to get underneath it.
And now I can twist it. Slide it off and it actually didn't even lose any coolant. Now I'm going to pop the other hose off and you can always use some hose pliers and just try to wiggle this off just like that and slide the throttle body right off. Now just use a pick. You can get behind the gasket and just slide it off. Take a new gasket, line it up. That's good. Take the new throttle body. Go over the studs then we can line this lower hose up first. It's just easier to do this before you put the nuts on. That's on. Now we can move that clamp over and take the other hose, line that up and move the clamp over for that one. That's good. It's back in position.
Now that those are all hooked up, you could actually take these hose crimpers off and take the nuts, put the nuts back on, and then we can torque these nuts to 89 inch-pounds. Make sure you're on inch-pounds, not foot-pounds. Now you can plug the electrical connector back in, line it up, and then push down on the lock tab. That's good. And take the snorkel, line this back up. Put it over the throttle body and over the airbox or the mass air sensor. Tighten up the worm clamp. Just snug it up. Just make sure it's not loose. And then do the same over here.
And then take this cover, put this back in position, and get that bolt in. And at this point, you want to check your coolant level and if it's down at all, you want to adjust that. And then even after the engine warms up a bit, double-check your coolant level. Now we can hook up the battery. Line it up, get it started and snug it up. Just make sure it's not loose. That's good. When you're done this procedure, it's always a great idea to hook up a scan tool where you can monitor the values of the throttle body and watch the activation of it when you activate the accelerator pedal and see how those values look. Make sure there are no spikes or anything.
Everything else should be good. And I always run the vehicle for about three minutes at idle, just making sure everything's good, make sure everything responds good. You should be good to go. Now we can kook up the battery. Line it up, get it started, and snug it up. Just make sure it's not loose. That's good.
