New Truck Lock Solved Security Issue

I have a 2009 Chevy Silverado, bought it new and has been a good vehicle for me. I have a tonneau cover over the bed, which has also been very useful, but I have had concerns about not being able to leave much under the cover. I recently noticed my neighbors newer but similar truck had a locking tail gate. I thought that there must be replacement parts for his truck that would fit mine. Sure enough 1A Auto had one, and to make it better it was able to make my existing truck key work on its lock. It arrived in a couple of days and had easy to follow instructions for an easy swap. I know this doesnt make my cargo super secure, but it does keep prying eyes from just dropping the gate open to see what might be in there. I didnt have to by a matching cap that I was considering, and can still roll up my cover when the whole box is needed. Very happy with the final result and price!

Delivery was prompt, parts were an exact fit and A1 has the best installation videos for all parts. If you want exact parts A1 has them. I give them 4 stars only because their price is usually higher than others. Although price of this part was good, sometimes I will go elsewhere due to price. But, if you want an exact match, they always have it.

It works great. Helps keep my locking tonneau cover more secure. Simple to install. I had it done in about 5 minutes.

I had ordered this for my son's truck. He works construction and needs to be able to secure tools in the bed of his truck. His mom had ordered him a way cheaper one that was mainly all plastic and just felt cheap and not very well made. It lasted about 2 months before it broke. When this product arrived I was very pleased it was made from metal and seemed pretty rugged plus it takes his truck ignition key to lock/unlock so you don't need to add another key to your ring. My son installed it quickly and is very pleased with it overall! Thank you for a good product. I just hope it holds up over time.

Does this require me to. Hanger all the mechanismstuff in the tailgate or does it just lock the handle so you can pull it to open?

Its designed to replace the factory locking (with key lock cylinder) unit. I do not know if the corresponding connecting rods are the same for a non locking handle as they are the locking. You may want to check with the GM parts department.

There are two separate parts the handle holds and clips in the mechanisms stuff and a new lock that locks the handle from opening and pulling the door rods that open the tail gate. My truck tailgate keeped falling down replaced it with new assy with lock works great. Take only about 1/2 hour.

One rod from each side is easily untethered from the old handle and does not fall away. The new handle has new connectors for the rods. The lock itself keeps the handle from pulling out

You use the key that came with your truck just insert you ignition key and it will set the pins in the lock for that particular key! Once and done!

You will use the OEM key. Instructions are included on how to code the cylinder to allow your factory key to insert and lock or unlock this cylinder.

no it didn't come with a new key and does not work properly . Had to get a GM brand that is stronger and cost more for one that works correctly.
