I am not sure about this product yet, I had to purchase a special tool before I can replace them. I got the tool in the mail and hopefully this weekend, if the weather cooperates I will replace them.

Do I need a special tool for installation?

Yes. I made mine but it was hard to do. You can remove them with a long punch and hammer. Worst part is you cant rent that tool. I made mine from a pipe , 2 washers and ss rod but even then the hole pattern was different by just a little bit from old to new.

Yes, you do. The tool cost about $50, or you can rent it from Autozone, or other place. There is a spanner nut down at the base of the strut on the vehicle strut housing that you'll need the tool for. The tool slides down over the strut shaft (the shiny shaft) and then four nipples on the tool slip into the holes of the spanner nut, then you loosen the spanner nut. The As long as you have the tool, it takes about 20 minutes to do each strut......very easy job. However, be warned, the spanner nut tool from OTC is junk. I know because I bought one. The OTC tool has a manufacturing defect that will not let it slip over the shiny part of the shaft, and because of that, the tool will not work. I tried to work with OTC to crrect the problem, but after three months, they still didn't resolve the problem. They even sent me another tool under warranty, but the new tool had the same problem. Don't ever buy tools from OTC, their customer service is absolutely horrible and it takes forever on the
