  1. step : Diagnosis (1:15)
    • To check to see if you have a bad pitman arm, jack up your car and secure it.
    • Move your wheel and if there is play in your pitman arm and joint.
  2. step : Remove the skid plate (1:55)
    • Unbolt the four 15 mm bolts.
    • Remove the kid plate and set aside.
  3. step : Prepare the steering box to access the pitman arm (2:10)
    • Unclip and move aside the plastic shield.
    • Spray the two fittings and the bolt with penetrating oil.
    • Loosen the power steering coupling bolt.
    • Use a fitting wrench to remove the two fittings and an 11 mm socket and ratchet and extension to remove the bolt.
    • Have a helper hold the steering wheel for you while you do this to make it easier.
    • Use a pry bar to move the steering shaft from the steering box.
  4. step : Remove the steering box and pitman arm (4:35)
    • Use a 21 mm bolt to remove the bolt mounting the pitman arm.
    • Use a joint fork and a hammer to separate the joint.
    • Remove the three bolts securing the steering box and remove the steering box completely to remove the pitman arm.
    • Put the steering box and pit man arm in an oil pan.
    • Use an impact wrench or a large breaker bar as well as a pitman arm puller to remove the pitman arm from the steering arm.

Easy install
Ordered complete steering and suspension kit for my 97 Chevrolet Heavy Half. Arrived sooner than expected. Upon arrival I noticed there a part missing. Called them and they noticed on there end it was accidentally left of kit before shipment. Right away another was sent this time overnight free of charge. I received it next day as I was told I would. Install was very easy. Removal of old was killer. 1 advice if you’re changing any upper and lower ball joints. Yes it will cost a lil more, but will be cheaper and easier on yourself in the long run. Order the complete fully dressed upper and lower control arms. They’ll have all the bushings and ball joints installed. I just only ordered the kit including the ball joints knowing that I was messing up trying to be cheap. As I anticipated removal of ball joints from lower control arms was impossible as well as upper ball joint removal was almost impossible as well. Instead of paying 1AAUTO like 225-300 max I think for the same kit but with the dressed control arms. I spent 175 for kit with just ball joints then spent an additional 400 for both lower control arms 200 per 1 from Orielly and other from Autozone where I hate to go. So you do the math don’t make my mistake.
