Should You Purchase This 8-Piece Steering & Suspension Kit?

Shocks, struts, tie rods, and sway bars are all essential parts of your Chevy or Pontiac's steering and suspension system. They help keep your ride and handling smooth. They can also wear out over time, especially if they're exposed to rough road conditions, dirt, or salt. If you have steering or ride problems, you should replace them with this steering and suspension kit. You can visually inspect your suspension for leaking grease, worn rubber boots, or rust and corrosion to help you determine how quickly you needed to make the replacement.

It's a good idea to replace suspension parts in left-right pairs to keep your ride even and smooth. If you're replacing your front struts, you may also want to replace your rear shocks. We know it can be annoying to track down every single part you need. That's why we put together these kits, to save you the inconvenience of mixing and matching parts.

These aftermarket steering and suspension parts are made of the best materials and rigorously tested. That's why we confidently back them with a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects. They're built to the exact specifications of the originals, so they're guaranteed to fit for the listed models. This kit fits 2005 -2009 Chevy Cobalts, 2006-2010 Chevey HHRs and 2007-2009 Pontiac G5s, that came with the Performance Ride Handling Suspension option. For more detailed fit info, check out the "Vehicle Fit" tab.

Exact fit makes it easier to replace your suspension parts. You may need to support the car and remove the wheels to get better access to the suspension. You’ll want to measure the old parts before installing the new ones, so you can set them properly. Then unbolt the parts and bolt on the new ones. You should always get a professional alignment after working on your steering. You can see a video showing the process for the front struts and sway bars in the "How-To & Tools" tab.

Our steering and suspension components come pre-greased, sealed for long life, and do not require the extra maintenance typically required by greasable versions.

  1. step : Remove the top of the strut (1:07)
    • Lift the hood and secure it.
    • Remove the three 13 mm nuts in the engine bay securing the top of the strut.
    • Keep two of them loosely threaded just to keep the strut from flopping around while you work on the bottom half.
  2. step : Remove the wheels (1:37)
    • Use a 19 mm lug wrench to loosen the lug nuts.
    • Raise and secure the vehicle.
    • Remove the lug nuts and set the wheel aside.
  3. step : Remove the stabilizer link (2:03)
    • Use an 18 mm wrench and an 18 mm socket and ratchet to remove the stabilizer link.
    • A breaker bar can help get it loose, using the wrench to secure the back of the bolt.
  4. step : Remove the bottom of the strut (3:01)
    • Apply some penetrating oil to the two 18 mm nuts securing the strut to the steering knuckle.
    • Work the bolts out of the steering knuckle and strut.
    • Unthread the top two nuts and pull the strut down and out.
  5. step : Install the new strut (4:35)
    • Put the strut into place and thread one of the bolts through the bottom of the strut and the steering knuckle.
    • This secures the strut so you can secure the top three nuts.
    • Torque the two bolts at the bottom to 100 ft lbs.
    • Reassemble the stabilizer link.
    • Replace the wheel, using a star pattern on the lug nuts.
    • Torque the top three nuts to 20 ft lbs.
    • Torque the lug nuts to 100 ft lbs.

Excellent Package
This suspension package was exactly what my 113k mile Cobalt needed. The original shocks and struts were just about completely shot. So this completely corrected the rough ride not to mention the increased steering tightness/ input. It now rides like a new car again! Shipping was also super snappy.

Customer Q&A
Ask a question to 1A Auto customers who purchased the product
What brand is this set of shocks and struts?
Summers S June 20, 2016
We have a few different aftermarket companies build these parts specifically for us, as our 1A Auto house brand. They are manufactured to the same OEM specifications as the original part that came with your vehicle. If you have any further questions, please dont hesitate to ask.
Brian F June 21, 2016
What length are the sway bar end links?
Brian S June 27, 2017
I dont have the exact measurements. Our parts are designed to be exact replacements for what came with the vehicle, so as long as your year, make, and model match up with our listing, these will definitely fit and function just like the original. Please let us know if you have any other questions.
