What are Tapered Bearings and Why Use Them?

Tapered bearings are better than roller ball bearings at handling forces exerted on the bearing during cornering (known as axial load) in trucks and large cars.

Roller ball bearings have spherical ball bearings between two straight rings (called races). Tapered bearings use tapered rollers shaped like flat-topped cones and two races angled from the outside to the inside of the bearing. The greater the angle, the more axial load the bearing can handle.

Your model came from the factory with tapered bearings. This type of bearing handles cornering forces better for trucks and large cars. Roller ball bearings work well for smaller cars, but replacing a tapered bearing with a roller ball bearing will result in increased wear and faster failure.

Our steering and suspension components come pre-greased, sealed for long life, and do not require the extra maintenance typically required by greasable versions.

Steering & Suspension Kit Front
Did very well explaining the installation and removal of the Steering and Suspension.

Awesome front end kit
This is a great front end kit for a great price. Also, I thought they would all be non greaseable parts, to my surprise there good quality parts. Another thing is, the shipping was good and fast. Living here in Canada and it only took seven working days for all parts to arrive. Finnally, with 10,000km on the parts and counting theres absolutely no problems, thanks 1A auto for the great quality parts and service.

Steering and Front Suspension kit
Awesome way to purchase what you need in a kit. I would recommend this to anyone if you upgrade the ball joints and outer tie rods. The boot on the upper ball joint will not stay on and the nuts for the outer tie rods stripped out when tightening up and wasnt even up far enough to put the pin in. I had to go buy Moog for these two parts and wish you all would adding that to this package. Everything else seems good at this time.

Customer Q&A
Ask a question to 1A Auto customers who purchased the product
What brand are the hub assemblies?
Justin M August 16, 2016
Sorry, didnt notice any brand marking. They did, however, go on without any drama. Only thing different is that the hub faces did not have the tapped hole for the Torx bolt that holds the brake disk to the hub when the wheel is off. Since the lug nuts hold it all together when in service, I found this to be a non issue.
Jim A August 16, 2016
We have a few different aftermarket companies build these parts specifically for us, as our 1A Auto house brand. They are manufactured to the same OEM specifications as the original part that came with your vehicle. If you have any further questions, please dont hesitate to ask.
Brian F August 17, 2016
House brand appears same as oem but time will tell and Ill tell when time does
