This replacement serpentine belt tensioner is just what you need to get your vehicle in good working order again! If you are hearing a whirring noise from the front of your engine or if your belt often screeches you may be in need of a new belt tensioner. This part commonly wears out between 60,000 and 70,000 Miles. If it fails suddenly it can leave you stranded.

  1. step : Removing the Air Intake Hose (0:36)
    • Loosen the air intake hose clamp with a flat blade screwdriver
    • Pull the smaller tube off the intake hose
    • Remove the 10mm bolt from the intake hose
    • Remove the two T25 Torx screws from the air filter box cover
    • Disconnect the wiring harness from the intake hose
  2. step : Removing the Air Filter Box (2:07)
    • Remove the two 10mm bolts from the air filter box
    • Pull the air box up and out
  3. step : Removing the Serpentine Belt (2:43)
    • Attach a 3/8 inch drive ratchet to the serpentine belt tensioner
    • Pull the tensioner counterclockwise to loosen the belt
    • Pull the belt off the pulleys and up and out
  4. step : Removing the Serpentine Belt Tensioner (3:26)
    • Remove the 15mm bolt from the tensioner
    • Pull off the tensioner
  5. step : Installing the New Serpentine Belt Tensioner (3:49)
    • Start the 15mm bolt into the tensioner
    • Put the new tensioner into place using the locating tab
    • Tighten the 15mm bolt to 35 foot-pounds of torque
  6. step : Reinstalling the Serpentine Belt (4:36)
    • Route the serpentine belt around the pulleys as it was routed before, leaving it off the idler pulley Attach a 3/8 inch drive ratchet to the serpentine belt tensioner
    • Pull the tensioner counterclockwise to loosen the belt
    • Pull the belt onto the idler pulley
    • Release the tensioner
  7. step : Reinstalling the Air Box (5:45)
    • Put the air box into place using the locating tabs
    • Insert the two 10mm bolts into the air box
  8. step : Reinstalling the Air Intake Hose (6:33)
    • Put the intake hose into place
    • Connect the air intake wiring harness
    • Put the safety plug into the intake hose
    • Push the air box cover into place
    • Insert the two T25 screws into the air box
    • Insert the 10mm bolt into the intake hose bracket
    • Connect the smaller tube to the intake hose
    • Tighten the intake hose clamp with a flat blade screwdriver

  • A Piece of Pipe (for leverage)
  • Ratchet
  • 3/8 Inch Drive Ratchet

The bolt on the tensioner wont tighten up its like the hole is striped but put blot in wit out tensioner it tighten up fine how do I fix it?

Use the bolt that comes with the new tensioner...if u use the old it wont work.
