Where to begin, my truck didnt have a back up camera from the factory and I had previously installed an aftermarket stereo in the truck. I tried using just a simple bullet style camera mounted by the license plate, that camera didnt even last 3 months and it didnt work any more. I found this camera when I was making another purchase from 1A Auto and I dont regret going back to buy it. The video quality is high quality, the angle of the camera is perfect and the fact that its in the factory mounting location you cant beat.

Install was very simple and took just over 45 minutes from start to finish. I have an aftermarket radio with the input jack for a camera already so I did not have to have the dealership flash the ecm. I would not only recommend this product to other Ram owners but I do recommend 1A Auto to anyone regardless of what type of vehicle they own. Low prices, quality parts, and reasonable shipping time.

I have a crew cab long box Ram Cummins truck. Its large, and long making it difficult to see out the back directly behind me. Sure the mirrors let me back up all day long but without doing walkarounds of the truck every time I drive it you have no idea what is right behind you. The top of the tailgate is between 5.5 and 6 feet off the ground and you can't see. This backup camera lets me see directly behind me while backing up, which makes me feel better for people around me and items that that may be in the way. It also gives the benefit of being able to hook up to a trailer much easier. The camera resolution could be much better than it is but still visible. The picture is a little bright and washed out but I'll see if I can adjust that in the head unit any to clear it up. The included wire harness was long enough to do my truck and I believe if you had a mega cab long box you could still reach it. Came as advertised would buy again the only thing is the cable attached to the camera could have been about 3 longer so if you wanted to take your tailgate off you wouldnt have to open up your gate to unplug the camera

The camera does not have grid lines as it is not a part of the assembly and the grid lines would be a part of the programming of the head unit. Please do not hesitate to contact us with any further questions.

a 12 volt power source. I used the reverse light wire going to the riverside taillight. That way it only powers up when the reverse light is activated. If you need it on all the time just find a 12 volt constant power source on your vehicle or wire it to the battery. It has been a long time since I did mine and I can't remember if the cable is long enough for that but if not you could always extend it.

We suggest professional installation as modification to your vehicle is necessary. A separate monitor/display with an RCA video input will be needed to complete this installation. This part will not work with the factory wiring.

Hello James. This is an add-on kit that is only meant to be used in vehicles that did not come with the backup camera from factory or dealer. A separate monitor/display with an RCA video input will be needed to complete this installation. This part will not work with the factory wiring.
