I sure appreciate the helpful videos on 1AAuto and the detailed installation instructions. Most importantly, the bit of info that told me Chevy uses an E4 external star nut on their ignition switches. The hardest part of the job was removing the rear nut (there are only 2 holding it on ) as it was tucked behind the switch and needed a swivel socket and some finagiling to get the socket on it. The switch worked perfectly and didn't mess with the anti theft settings. Another fine repair with the help of 1AAuto.

I recently had to replace the ignition switch on my daughters 00 Cavalier. The price was ridiculously cheap compared to our local parts stores. More than $35 less! This ignition switch does not include a key.

Thank you for your inquiry! This is just the switch, not the key cylinder. If you were switching out the cylinder, then yes, you would need to get a new key or have the cylinder tumblers set to match the old key.
