That's going to save you time and money. Thank you and enjoy the video.

In this video we're going to show you how to replace the rear wiper motor on this '98 Chevy Venture. Same as Pontiac Transport and Montana, old Silhouette as well. The tools you'll need are 10 and 13 mm sockets with a ratchet. A large adjustable wrench, a flat blade screwdriver, a T30 Torx bit and ratchet and needle nose pliers. Start by removing this 13 mm bolt with a wrench or a socket and ratchet. Next use a little screwdriver; put it between the arm and not the window, but there's a bolt right here. Lightly pry, the arm comes right off. Now use a large adjustable wrench. I'm not quite sure what size this is, but remove this plastic retain nut.

Open up your tailgate. Remove two and it's a T30 Torx bit, two T30 screws. Hold your handle on. Okay, and so to save you from boredom here we'll speed up for removing those two screws. Pull the panel out around your... Just a note here; this had been taken apart before so it came down very easy. You will need to pull it down. I'll show you the pins that hold it a little later. Taken apart some time before, it comes down. There are pins here and a couple that go in up in here as well. You'll want to take these pins, get our needle nose pliers, pull them out. Then they slide into these slots right here. The lead is plugged in right here. There is a little tab, I'm going to use my screwdriver and pry on that tab, work it out. You can see right there is the tab. Now there are two 10 mm bolts that we'll remove. We'll use our ratchet and socket. Pull it away and work it out of the window. There was a wiper motor in this vehicle that's actually in good shape. If you did need to change your bracket over you just undo this T30 bolt and then the bracket will come off.

Reinstalling is pretty simple, a reverse of the procedure. Put it up in there, push it through. Start one bolt; start our other bolt over here. Before you tighten it up you'll want to mount it here first. So we'll start that lightly. Basically, take this to get it seated pretty well and then give it about of a turn to tighten it up. Back underneath we'll tighten up these bolts. Plug it in. It's a good time right now to test your new one. We'll take our trim. We're going to put the top in first here. Now we're going to make sure these pins go into their holes. Now we'll fast forward again through putting in those T30 bolts that hold that pull. Now you want to run it. You want to turn it on and turn it off. By turning it on and then turning it off you make sure it's in the correct position. Now you can put it on nice and straight. A 13 mm bolt here; nice and firm, not incredibly tight, but pressing down it is what actually transfers power from the shaft to the wiper arm. You need to get it tight.
