Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.

In this video we're going to show you how to replace the driver's door check on this 2003 Nissan Frontier. It's fundamentally the same for the model years 2001 through 2004, and for the driver's and passenger side. You'll need a small flat blade screwdriver, a Phillips head screwdriver, and a 10mm socket and socket wrench.

Locate the Phillips head screw in the door handle, as well as down there in the door grab, as well as the plastic clip up in the corner. I'm using a small flat blade screwdriver to pry that little clip off, and then I'm going to use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove those two screws. Fast forward as I do that. Lift off the rear of the armrest and you'll expose another Phillips head screw right there. I'll go ahead and fast forward as I remove that. Now remove the portion of the armrest with the switch pack assembly in it. Pull it up and you'll notice two connectors and they're removed by pressing the tab in on them and pulling them out. Go ahead and do that. Notice this exposes another Phillips head screw and I'll go ahead and fast forward as I remove that. The panel's now just being held on by the plastic clips that are right behind that. If you give a good tug it will come right off. Lift it and put it out of the way.

Now go ahead and locate your door check. It'll be right there. It's a 10mm bolt holding it to the car side and then two in the door jamb there. I'm using a 10mm socket and socket wrench to remove first the two screws that go through into the door jamb there, and then the one that holds it to the vehicle side. Fast forward as I do that. Peel back on that vapor barrier, and pull your door check through and out.

There's nothing wrong with the door check that we pulled out, so we're just going to go ahead and put this one back in. With the door check back in the door hold it in place to the door panel and start your three 10mm screws that hold it place. Then I'll fast forward as I go ahead and tighten those up.

Line up the plastic clips on the inside of the door panel with the corresponding holes in the door itself. Place the top of the door panel onto the sill, and feed your wiring harness through. This is about where it goes. Place your door panel on the sill and, once you know that those plastic clips are in place, give it a couple whacks around the outside to fully seat them. Start to reinstall your Phillips head screws right there in the inner door handle and then the two that were hidden by the armrest. And then the one in the door grab handle, as well as the clip that goes up in the triangular piece that covers the mounting screws for the mirror. I'll go ahead and fast forward as I do that. Now you can take your door handle there and switch pack assembly and reinstall the connectors to it. Then place it down inside of the door there, starting with the backside and then working your way to the front. By pushing it down, you'll see the clips clip in and then, you can go ahead with the back portion of the armrest. Slide that in and then down in the back. Then when that's all set you can then reinstall the final Phillips head screw.
