In this video, we show you how to remove and put the door panel back on this 98 Explorer, front driver side. Really, tools you'll need are flat blade screwdriver, a Philips screwdriver and a putty knife or a door panel clip removal tool.

Okay, removing the door panel in one of these Explorers, you'll need three tools: flat blade screwdriver, Philips screwdriver, a putty knife and if you worry about your paint you might want a rag as well. You want to start. Use your flat blade screwdriver, carefully prying back here, you could see mine is already broken. You want to be careful not to break it right there, it's a weak spot. Even if you do break it, you'll put it back together so it doesn't you might notice it. Pull that bezel apart and off. Two Philips screws under here, remove those Philip screws. Back with your screwdriver and if you want, use your rag by the top and the bottom, pull it out. Use a screwdriver. There's side here that has a tooth holding the harness. Just work that screwdriver there a little bit and disconnect it. Now, around the perimeter of the door panel, there are some pins that hold it. What you want to do, if you worry about paint, put the putty knife, wrap the towel around it, work it in, slide that down till you come to the stop and that's usually a pin then pull. I'm through. This truck has been apart a few times so it comes out pretty easy. Once you have those pins released then you want to lift up on the panel, from this groove here.

Behind here, what you want to do is, this is held in, you basically want to - there's two teeth on there and then one back here. You press those down to release them and then it slides out. On this one, press is down and then that whole assembly slides right out. Work that screw and there's the door panel off.

I'm reinstalling the door panels. Here's all the pins. It's pretty easy. What you want to do is first, take your switch panel on your switch panel, there is grooves, here and then also on the front. They go right over this pin here and this pin here. You basically just slide it right in and walk it into place. Make sure your mirror harness comes up and through and now, you want to get your grommet up and over the door lock here. You want to make sure that the top of the panel goes right down into the screw, you want to push it towards the window. Work with the top of the panel into that groove. Work from the back forward.

Now, reach in behind and feel for your pins and make sure they go in to their respective holes in the door. Roll each one of those in, push that all on. You put your mirror switch, put that back in and shoot down. The grommet around the door handle. Back in. Two screws above the door handle here. Nice and firm and they do angle up as they go in.
