How to Remove Front Seat Belts 1988-98 GMC K1500

How to replace a front sear belt on 96 GMC Sierra K1500 pickup truck.

  1. step 1 :Removing the Seat Belts
    • Pry off the seat belt bolt panel door
    • Remove the T50 Torx bolt from the seatbelt
    • Lift up and remove the base of the seatbelt
    • Remove the T50 Torx bolt
  2. step 2 :Installing the Seat Belts
    • Install the base of the seatbelt mechanism
    • Tighten the T50 Torx bolt
    • Press on the panel door
    • Tighten the T50 Torx bolt

Here are the items you'll need for this repair: T50 Torx socket, r

Using a trim tool, pop off this panel. There's a T50 Torx bolt down in there. You're going to need a T50 Torx driver, a long extension, and your 3/8 ratchet to remove it. You may need to use a breaker bar to get this bolt loose. Lift up and remove the base of the seatbelt from the floor. Lift up on this panel and remove the T50 Torx bolt.

Reinstall the base of the seatbelt mechanism, and tighten down the T50 Torx bolt with a T50 Torx socket, ratchet, and extension.

Reinstall the cover panel, just snaps into place. Reinstall the bolt in the upper portion of the seatbelt. Tighten that down with your T50 Torx, as well.

Snap the cover back into place, and you're good to go.
