How to check your differential fluid on 2000 Nissan Pathfinder.
Socket Extensions
1/2 Inch Ratchet
Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. We've been selling auto parts for over 30 years.
Raise and support the vehicle, and we can check the front differential fluid.
We're gonna take a half-inch ratchet and a half-inch extension, and we're gonna stick it right here. We can pull the fill plug. Pull the fill plug out. As you can see, a little bit of fluid's starting to drip out. That means it's probably right up to the top. You can take your finger, with a glove on, just touch. It's full to the top, so we're good.
Now we'll put the fill cap back in. Thread that in. You can put a little pipe sealer around there and seal it, but you don't need to. Once it starts getting harder to tighten, just a little bit more. Just a little snug. We can wash this down with some brake parts cleaner.
Another thing: If you were changing the fluid, this is the drain plug, right here. What you would do is pull the fill plug out first, just to make sure you can get it out, and then you can pull the drain plug out and have all the fluid and catch it in a pan.
When you're checking the fluid level in the front differential, you're gonna wanna make sure the vehicle is level. You don't want the front sticking up or the back sticking up.
