Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. We've been selling auto parts for over 30 years.

Hi, everyone. Sue here at 1A Auto and today we have an 03 Volvo B70 2.4-liter, non-turbo in the shop. I'm going to show you where the master cylinder for the brake fluid is located and how to check your fluid.

So we're going to open the hood. The hood latch location is on the driver's side, the left leg kick panel. You reach in there and you feel a handle. See it? Just give it a pull. So the safety latch is located right here in the center--just pull up the tab and lift the hood open.

Master is in front of the brake booster, which is in front of the driver's seat in the engine compartment. You have this white reservoir, plastic reservoir, with the cap. They kind of make it a little difficult to get in here, but I can see it and go put my hand in here. So the cover always should mark the type of fluid your vehicle takes. This European car takes DOT 4 not DOT 3. If you were to add fluid with DOT 3, you could cause failure. So always check your cover for the proper brake fluid.

We're going to take that cover off. Make sure no dirt or debris gets inside that master. Lift it up and now I can see in there. My fluid is right at the max level. Fluid on a European on DOT 3 is a different color. It's not a clear or a vanilla color. It is more of a bluish green color. I'm just going to dab a clean rag in there to give you a little show. See how it's like a greenish? That's a good way to indicate I can see that it's not black or a dark color.

I also have a brake tester that you can get from 1A Auto on the tool site. It will test the water level and moisture in that brake fluid. Always return the cover to the proper position, nice and tight, snug it down.
