Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.

In this video, we're going to show you how to do an oil change on this 2004 Volkswagon Jetta with the 1.8T engine. The items you'll need for this is an 8mm Allen bit and ratchet, T15 Torx bit, oil filter wrench, oil, oil filter, drip pan and jack and jack stands.

Your oil pan is located right here. On the back of it there's this drain plug. Using an 8 mm Allen bit, just loosen up and remove that drain plug. Make sure you have your drip pan underneath and just let the oil drain out. Once it stops draining replace your drain plug and tighten it up.

Next you want to remove this panel by removing this series of T25 bolts. You can see that most of ours are missing so Don's just going to remove this one T25 bolt and then cut these wire ties and then just pull that panel free.

Now you can access your oil filter. Using an oil filter wrench, just loosen up the filter and put your drip pan underneath and twist out the oil filter by hand. Just let the oil slowly drain out, twist it out, let it drain for a second, twist it out more and then you can just remove it the rest of the way. Wipe down the area where the oil filter was.

Coat the rubber gasket of your new oil filter with some fresh oil and then put your oil filter up in place, spin it on until the gasket hits and it stops spinning, and then turn it another two-thirds to three-quarters turn to tighten it.

Just feed this panel back up and clip it on to that other panel. Make sure all the holes line up and then replace your T25 bolts or in our case our T25 bolt.

Now lower your vehicle and remove your oil cap and then using a funnel replace the oil in your engine. When you're done replace your cap, start the vehicle and let it run for a little bit. Then just check the oil level. If it needs more oil, add some more. Just make sure it's at the proper level and you're all set.
