Some symptoms of a bad fuel injector are: Stalling, hard starting, hesitation on acceleration, as well as a possible service engine light, and error code.

Your engine size can usually be found on a white sticker in the engine compartment near the radiator. If needed, your VIN code is the 8th digit of your vehicles Vehicle Identification number. The VIN can be found on the bottom driver side corner of the windshield and on your registration. Some refer to the VIN code as the Serial Number.

This fuel injector is designed to replace your original with no modifications necessary. It is a great replacement and offers good cost savings over the dealer unit.

  1. step : Disconnecting the Connector (0:47)
    • Find the connector behind the inner wheel well liner on the driver's side fender
    • Pry back the red safety
    • Lift up the gray latch
    • Open the fuel door
    • Remove the fuel cap
    • Start the truck so it dies
    • Keep cranking to run the system out of fuel
  2. step : Disconnecting the Battery (1:52)
    • Disconnect the negative battery terminal with a 10mm wrench
  3. step : Removing the Air Intake (2:00)
    • Release the clips and open the air filter housing box
    • List the air filter housing box cover up and off
    • Release the PCV hose
    • Loosen the rear clamp on the inlet pipe
    • Remove the box cover and pipe
    • Lift the bottom of the air filter housing box up and out
    • Remove the 10mm bolt behind the alternator
    • Remove the 10mm bolt behind the oil cap
    • Lift the air box up
    • Disconnect the intake sensor
    • Remove the air box
  4. step : Depressurizing the Fuel System (3:03)
    • On the passenger side fuel rail, remove the cap on the Schrader/pressure release valve
    • Place a paper towel below the valve
    • Press down the center of the valve with a pick to release the fuel pressure
  5. step : Removing the Fuel Injectors (3:46)
    • Remove the two 8mm bolts from the fuel rail
    • Clean any dirt or debris from the surrounding area to keep debris from falling in the injector holes
    • Pry up the red safety tab on the fuel injector
    • Push down and remove the connector from the injector
    • Pry out the retaining clip on the backside of the injector with a flat blade screwdriver
    • Evenly lift up the fuel rail, popping out one side at a time
    • Pull the fuel rail up and work the injector out of the fuel rail
  6. step : Installing the Fuel Injectors (5:54)
    • Lubricate the gasket on the fuel injector with a bit of gas from the rail
    • Insert the fuel injector into the fuel rail
    • Press the retaining clip on the back side
    • Press the rail into the manifold
    • Reconnect the injector wiring harness
    • Reinstall the two 8mm bolts
    • Screw the Schrader valve cap on
  7. step : Reinstalling the Air Intake (7:09)
    • Insert the air box with the silicone gasket over the throttle body
    • Tighten the two 10mm bolts to the box
    • Connect the air temp sensor
    • Insert the air filter housing into its mounting spots
    • Insert the intake tube to the air box
    • Tighten the hose clamp
    • Connect the PCV hose
    • Lock the air filter housing box
  8. step : Disconnecting the Connector (8:22)
    • Bring the latch on the connector back down
    • Reinstall the red safety tab
    • Reinstall the fuel cap
  9. step : Reconnecting the Negative Battery Terminal (8:44)
    • Tighten the 10mm bolt to the negative battery terminal
  10. step : Priming the Fuel System (9:09)
    • Turn the key to the on position
    • Turn the key off
    • Repeat the process three times
    • You might hear a high idle
    • Run the engine for a few seconds for the idle to drop to normal levels
