How To Replace Master Power Window Switch 2004-08 Ford F150

1. Diagnosing a Window Switch

Turn the vehicle on Test a window with its switch If it works, test the window with the master switch If that does not work, the master switch needs to be replaced

2. Removing the Master Window Switch

Pry up the switch panel with a flat blade screwdriver Disconnect the window switch wiring harnesses Pry the switch out of the switch panel with a flat blade screwdriver

3. Installing the Master Window Switch

Connect the switch wiring harnesses Test the switch Push the switch into the switch panel Push the switch panel into the door panel

In this video, we're going to show you how to diagnose a common issue as well as replace the master power window switch on this 2005 Ford 150. The items that you'll need for this are a new master power window switch from 1AAuto.com and a flat blade screwdriver.

We'll turn the key on and you can see this window with this switch goes up and down but then when we try and use the master switch you can hear that clicking. The master switch isn't working.

Use your screwdriver. Put it under and lift up. It popped out and comes up and out. Then disconnect here and here. Use your flat blade screwdriver again to pry out. I'm just using my thumb to put some pressure up on the switch. You can see it starts coming up and out. I have to pry out on the other side, still pulling up on the switch, and the switch comes out.

We can actually reconnect our new switch first and turn the key on. Now our window over there works. Push it in and down on.

I went to the dealer and received an estimiate to fix my windows to go up and down wasn't sure exactly what the propblem was, I was quoted $349.00 parts and labor. Im 52 yrs old called my son 28 he said Bull###t he showed me were order part online . It arrived a few days later. I You tubed snapped it in 3 Yes 3 seconds later all windows worked. about 2 minutes later all back together. In a few days I will be receiving my third power switch in the last year. The first one lasted a little less than a year. The second one lasted 2 weeks ( the drivers power window won't go down). However, this is just the product rating. 1A auto's customer service gets 5 stars. They are replacing the part with no questions asked. I was extremely impressed in the way in which they handle my problem.

It Works

The look and feel is slightly different than the OEM unit (typical of Chinese copies) but it works OK and was very easy to install.

The switch got shipped and arrived earlier than I had expected, it fit exactly and works great so far, I will buy other products from this site as needed or when price is comparable to the other sites that I shop . The price was 45 to 50% cheaper than local auto parts stores and they also had to order it online with a one week arrival estimate.

Good Replacement Part but not Original Part Quality

The part is great price wise, not having to pay $90 at the dealer. However it isn't the same as a Ford part; the switches are a lot stiffer, and the annoying part is that the interior night time lighting is dim at the directional arrows, yet light bleeds out around the switches between the switch and the armrest (and the part is secure in the armrest/notches). The part saves you money and functions just fine, but noticeably different.

Did Not See Dorman Brand Anywhere

Switch fits and works fine, but there was no "Dorman" brand anywhere, so this may be just another cheap knock off. At night, the switch backlights are very dim compared to original Ford, and one light has almost no light coming through.

Although the switch wasn't my problem I will be keeping it for a spare since I'm keeping my truck forever. The problem was thee motor which I also ordered from 1A Auto. Sticky rocker switches

I had purchase the same power window switch from another online auto parts supplier and was disappointed because the rockers would stick in the down position. I had to alway push the rocker back to the neutral position. Sorry to say, this rocker panel does the same thing. It appears they all get the same parts from the same manufacturer and put their own parts numbers on them.

Almost Perfect

First part received worked well except for the automatic down driver side switch. 1A Auto graciously provided another part free of charge and I did not have to return the defective part. Kudos their warranty department! New part arrived in a few days and everything worked fine on it.

It works but......

You get what you pay for. The auto down for the drivers window didn't work so they sent me a replacement. The LED lights don't really work like they should and it's a cheap knock off. It will do the job making the windows go up/down but if you want the factory look at night so the lights match the rest of the interior, this falls short but again, you get what you pay for.

The window switch works great. Direct replacement and fits in location like stock. Complete replacement not just the internals of the switches. Just remove the entire switch box and install the new one. After 15 years of use the feel of the new switches are stiffer than the old ones and the texture of the plastic buttons is courser than the smooth finish of the old switch but still looks great.

One touch down never functioned. Driver window would only roll halfway then Id have to release and hold again. Then about a week later it stopped working altogether. All these knockoff new switches seem to work like garbage. Ended up buying a used oem FORD switch at a junkyard.

2005 Ford F150 supercrew cab window master switch and regulator

The window switch was almost identical to the original. I also changed out the LF window regulator I had to swap the wires from the switch to the regulator or it runs in reverse. They did warn about it. I had to shave a little off the ends of all four buttons because they would stick in the up or down position. Ford wanted 500-600 for the same parts. These work great!
