In this video, we're going to show you how to service the small side marker light. These are the clear lights on the sides of the headlights on '92 to '96 Ford F150s as well as the other sized trucks. The only tools you'll need include 10 and 11 millimeter deep sockets and a Phillips screwdriver.

We're going to start out working underneath the hood. We've got the hood open and we're between where the battery is and the back of the headlight and parking light. If you're looking to change the whole assembly, you'll need a long 10 millimeter socket. Right down in here, you put the socket in to a 10mm nut and undo that. Then do the same thing over on this side. Right in here and another 10 millimeter nut right there. Remove those too. I'm just going to fast-forward through some footage here of taking those two nuts out of the back side. It's hard to film. You can reach down in there with your wrench, your socket and ratchet. If you want, taking the battery out is an option. It lets you get down in there a little easier but just remove those two nuts and then go from there. Remove the two Phillips screws at the top of the headlight trim panel. I'm just removing the rest of the way one of the nuts on the backside.As I remove that, just pull the assembly parking lights away.

Pull it out. There's a socket right here. Turn it counterclockwise. There's one down here. Turn that one counterclockwise as well.

Here, I'm just showing you a quick problem you may or may not run into. One of the studs from the parking light, when I went to remove the nut, actually twisted out of the parking light. What I'm doing is just using a pair of vice grip or locking pliers, hooking them onto the stud, and then using my socket and ratchet to remove the nut and remove that out of there so I can put in the new one.

The side parking or side marker light is held in with two 11 millimeter bolts. I'll remove those, put the little brace aside, and remove the side marker light from the trim.

Nice new side marker light from 1A Auto to replace your broken or old and faded one. Just make sure you put it right in here. You want to make sure you press it and slide it in. I'm going to start this top one first. Then, in the middle, there's a little brace that goes on here. You start the bottom bolt in. To sum up, just remember to put that brace back on and put the bolt back onto the side marker light, tighten them up.

I'm just going to continue the kind of fast-forward here. Put the assembly close to your harnesses. Put the side markers in. You can do the main parking light afterwards. Just reach in behind. Put the bolts on, tighten them up and then make sure you plug in that side signal or the front signal light. Finish up by reinstalling the two screws on the top of the trim.

In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the headlight trim or the plastic trim that's around the headlights on this 1996 Ford F-150, pretty much the same as any '92 to '96 Ford pickup. Tools you'll need are 10mm and 11mm sockets with a ratchet, as well as a Philips screwdriver. This is useful, obviously, if that trim's been broken or if you want to upgrade from the painted or gray trim to the chrome trim.

We're going to start out working underneath the hood. We've got the hood open and we're between where the battery is in the back of the headlight and parking light. If you're looking to change the whole assembly, you'll need a long socket, 10mm. Right down in here, we'll put that socket in to a 10mm nut and undo that and then do the same thing over on this side. Right in here, there's the 10mm nut right there, and remove those two. I'm just going to fast forward through some footage here. I've taken those two nuts out of the back side. Obviously, I can't really film it that well. You can reach down in there with your wrench, your socket and ratchet. If you want, taking the battery out is an option. It lets you get down in there a little easier, but just remove those two nuts and then go from there.

I'm removing two Philips screws at the top of the headlight trim panel. I'm just removing the rest of the way, one of the nuts in the back side and, as I remove that, I'll just pull the assembly and the lights away. Pull out. Maybe there's a socket right here. Turn it counterclockwise. There's one down here. Turn that one counterclockwise as well.

So here, I'm just showing you a quick problem you may or may not run into with one of the studs from the parking light. When I went to remove the nut, the stud actually twisted out of the parking light. What I'm doing is just using a pair of vice grip or locking pliers, hooking them on to the stud, and then using my socket and ratchet to remove the nut and remove that out of there so I can put in a new one.

The side parking or side marker light is held in with two 11mm bolts, I'll remove those, put a little brace aside and remove the side marker light from the trim. Now, there are three Philips screws: one on the side and then two that are underneath. If you're looking at the trim the way it sits on the truck. Remove those three screws.

Here's our original bezel; it's actually in pretty good shape. I'm going to reinstall this. I'm just doing this video to show you. At 1A Auto, we sell a black plastic version. You can finish this black plastic. If you have one of these XL models, you can finish the plastic with some charcoal or argent silver paint to match that. Also, you would refinish it if you had a Lightning model or a model that had the trim that's the color of the truck. Then as well as that black, we also sell the chrome trim model and again, it's exactly the same. If you wanted to, you can just upgrade your truck to a chrome grill with a chrome headlight surrounds and everything, and everything goes together all the same.

It's all the same. It's going to go right in. Just put it into the inside of your bezel first, block it in here first, and then you have to pull. I'm just using my thumb. I'm pulling this right around and on there, making sure it all goes in. There are little teeth on the light that just kind of lock into the bezel. We've got it all lined up pretty well. I'll fast forward here. What I like to do is I put each screw in first, just tight them up a little bit, and then once you have them all in and just make sure they're all in and going in correctly, then tighten them up afterwards. You start them in first, and then tighten them up once you're sure that they're all in, they're in straight and they're not misthreading or anything like that. Make sure you put it right in here. Now, make sure you press it and slide it in and when I start this top one first, there's a little brace that goes on here and then we're going to start with bottom bolt in.To sum up, just remember to put that brace back on and put the bolt back on to the side marker light, tighten them up.

I'm just going to continue to fast forward here. Put the assembly close to your harnesses and put the side markers in. You can do the main parking light afterwards, just reach in behind, put the bolts on, tighten them up and then make sure you plug in that side signal or the front signal light. Finish up by reinstalling the two screws on the top of the trim.

In this video we're going to show you how to service the headlights on this 1996 Ford F150. In the beginning part of the video, we'll show you just how to change the bulb, and then we'll get into how you change the whole assembly if yours are faded, clouded or broken. If you're just going to change a bulb, you really don't need any tools. If you're changing the whole headlight assemblies, you'll need a Phillips screwdriver, a 10 millimeter deep socket with a ratchet, some pliers and a bent-tip awl.

If you're just going to change a headlight, they're right back here. You can release this ring and pull the light out, kind of tip it up and out. If you move the ring back usually and there's a couple of teeth, just pull up with your thumb and disconnect the light. Be careful not to touch the filament at all. If oils from your hand get on there, it can basically melt the glass and cause the bulb to burn out quicker.

Probably the easiest is just take the headlight with this little tab pointing up, put it back into the socket. Then take your ring and put it in first. Turn it clockwise to lock it, then bring your harness up and connect it. If you want to replace your whole headlight assembly because it's been broken, I just undid the parking light down below. A 10 millimeter deep socket, and you can see that there's kind of a hole right there in the radiator support, put it in there. There's a bolt there and then there's also another nut over on that side. Those two nuts hold the lower parking light in, so you'll want to remove the two nuts in there. Quick footage, fast forwarding through removing those two nuts.

If you like you can remove the battery just by disconnecting it and then removing the bolt that holds it in place. That will make it a little easier to get to those bolts. On the other side you would need to remove the windshield washer reservoir. Remove the two Phillips screws at the top of the headlight trim panel. Here one of the 10 millimeter nuts didn't come out very easily, so I'm just reaching back in there loosening it up the rest of the way. Pull that out and then there's a socket right here. Turn it counterclockwise. One down here, turn that one counterclockwise as well.

Now there are three clips that hold the headlight in. You can see one there. You take this weather strip, pull it back. You see one right there and then there is a final one, it's actually right down here. You can use either needle-nose pliers or a bent-tip aw, reach right in. First grab hold, see if you can get the clip to move around a little bit. Take the awl and then pull it up and out. Take this one, pull it straight up and out. This one's a little more difficult to get in underneath it, kind of from the side. Pull it up, it just kind of going flying, but it came out. Now your light comes right out. You can undo the ring and pull the headlight right out.

I just picked up my clip. I have my three clips there. Here's our old headlight, new headlight from 1A Auto. You can see how much more bright and clear it is. The first thing you can do is just take your adjusters. These are your adjusters here; there are three of them. Take a small socket or a small wrench, you hold on to this part and you either turn it clockwise or counterclockwise on each one. This one, you turn this adjuster right up here. You just can kind of set it so that distances, you can see the distance from here to here and here to here and then also down here. The distances on your new light are basically the same as your old light. That's just kind of a good preliminary aim.

Just take this bulb, put the light in place, and reconnect the harness. Each one of these goes back into a hole. This adjuster goes in behind. It should pop right up out of here. Put all the adjusters in. Usually the easiest one is this here. You want to push the light in and slide the clip down on the back side. Make sure you push the headlight in with the clip down in place on there. Push the headlight in and push the clip down on it. The same thing for this one right back here, and that's in place.

At this point without the trim on, you want to do some final adjustments to your headlight. You basically just either use a small wrench or a Phillips screwdriver to turn the adjusters. Basically you want your lights always pointing straight ahead, so park the vehicle 20 feet away from a wall on a flat surface. Measure the height of your headlight bulb. With the low beams on, you want the headlight beam concentrated 1 inch below the height of the headlight bulb. That's from 20 feet away on a wall. Then the high beam, you want it concentrated at the same height as the headlight bulb.

I'm going to speed up here as we reassemble. You put the trim back in place with the parking and marker lights. Make sure you reconnect the two side marker lights first, and then you can reconnect the larger parking light from the back, and then put the trim into place. Start the two nuts on the back side and tighten them up. Finish up by reinstalling the two screws on the top of the trim.
