  1. step : Removing the Door Panel (0:49)
    • Open the trap door behind the door handle.
    • Pry off the circular cap on the inside of the door panel.
    • Remove the four Phillips screws around the door panel.
    • Pull the door handle bezel out and off.
    • Pry out from the corner and release the clips around the door panel.
    • Pull the door panel off.
    • Disconnect the harness from the door.
    • Pry the triangular trim panel out.
  2. step : Removing the Side Mirror (2:21)
    • Pull down the water shield and disconnect the connector for the mirror.
    • Remove the three 7mm bolts that secure the side mirror.
    • Pull the mirror up and out.
  3. step : Replacing the Side Mirror (3:26)
    • Feed the harness down through the door.
    • Replace the three 7mm bolts.
    • Reconnect the mirror harness.
  4. step : Replacing the Door Panel (4:25)
    • Replace the triangular trim panel.
    • Reconnect the door panel wire harness.
    • Put the door panel down into the weather strip and line the door panel pins up.
    • Push the door panel into place.
    • Replace the door handle bezel.
    • Replace the four Phillips screws.
    • Replace the trap door and circular cap.

If your Escape was not originally equipped with heated mirrors can you add a switch on the dash to accommodate new heated mirrors?

BEST ANSWER: No this is not a simple task and we do not recommend it. There is more to these systems than just a switch.
