Axle shafts may need replacing for a variety of different reasons. On vehicles that do heavy work or endure other extreme use you can actually break an axle or strip the splines or teeth. More often the CV joint wears out causing noises and vibration while accelerating or turning.

CV axles are designed to transmit the power from your vehicle's drivetrain to the wheels while being able to flex and pivot to the demands of the steering and suspension systems.  If your vehicle is making clicking noises at lower speeds or when making turns, it may be time to replace your CV axles with our 100% brand new assemblies.

This item is backed by a Limited Lifetime Warranty. In the event this item should fail due to manufacturing defects during intended use, we will exchange the part free of charge (excludes shipping charges) for the original purchaser.

  1. step : Removing the Wheel (0:53)
    • Loosen the lug nuts with the vehicle on the ground
    • Raise the vehicle with a floor jack
    • Secure the vehicle on jack stands
    • Remove the lug nuts
    • Remove the hub cap
    • Pull off the wheel
  2. step : Removing the Sway Bar Link (1:12)
    • Remove the cotter pin from the axle with needle nose pliers
    • Remove the 32mm nut from the axle with a breaker bar and pipe for leverage
    • Turn the wheel by hand
    • Hold the upper sway bar link bolt with a 14mm wrench
    • Remove the upper 14mm nut from the sway bar link
    • Hold the lower sway bar link bolt with a 14mm wrench
    • Remove the lower 14mm nut from the sway bar link
    • Pull off the sway bar link
  3. step : Separating the Control Arm (3:58)
    • Loosen the 19mm nut from the lower ball joint
    • Strike the wheel spindle with a hammer to loosen the ball joint
    • Remove the 19mm nut
    • Separate the lower ball joint from the wheel spindle
  4. step : Removing the Axle (5:55)
    • Strike the axle end with a hammer to loosen it up
    • Separate the axle from the wheel
    • Have a drain pan ready
    • Pry the axle away from the transmission with a drain pan
    • Allow the transmission fluid to drain
    • Pull the axle shaft out
  5. step : Installing the New Axle Shaft (6:51)
    • Feed the axle into place through the wheel well
    • Line up the axle splines with the transmission
    • Push the axle into the transmission
    • Apply penetrating oil to the axle splines
    • Push the axle into the wheel
  6. step : Reattaching the Control Arm (7:57)
    • Push the ball joint into the steering knuckle
    • Start the 19mm nut onto the ball joint
    • Put the center nut onto the axle
    • Tighten the center nut to 175 foot-pounds of torque
    • Hammer the cotter pin into the center nut
    • Bend the cotter pin into place with needle nose pliers
    • Tighten the 19mm nut
  7. step : Reinstalling the Sway Bar Link (9:09)
    • Put the sway bar link into place
    • Fasten the 14mm nuts onto the sway bar link, holding the bolts with a wrench
  8. step : Reattaching the Wheel (10:05)
    • Slide the wheel into place
    • Put the hub cap on
    • Start the lug nuts by hand
    • Tighten the lug nuts preliminarily
    • Lower the vehicle to the ground
    • Tighten the lug nuts to 100 foot-pounds in a crossing or star pattern
