Hi Ray, the new lid comes with paper Instructions. My lid was broken so it was pretty easy. It took me longer to clean out my console then it did to put the new lid on, it took about 15 minutes but I am pretty handy. You just have to take the rod out of the old lid and it comes off, then take out the old springs.(Just note which way the springs where in old lid, even though they only fit one way.) Then take off the inside cover of new lid, my only fear was breaking the plastic clips that snaps the inside cover to the top piece. The inside cover on the new lid was half way unclipped for me when I got it. I used a flat head screwdriver to undue the rest of the clips. The metal bracket snaps in the top piece of the lid then put the springs in the console then hold the lid down when you put the new rod in one side though springs and out the other side, make sure rod is even on both sides of lid. (Put the new lid on before you snap the inside cover back on). Almost forgot, you will need t
