Part Details

  • Front or Rear Location:   Rear

As the industry leader in manufacturing quality air suspension parts and accessories for over 20 years, Arnott is the best choice for your vehicle.

Arnott introduces a new economical rear air shock replacement kit for GM SUVs equipped with Autoride suspension. This low cost kit will convert the Rear of your SUV from electronic air shocks to passive air shocks. These adjustable shocks will keep the vehicle at the proper height and provide a smooth, comfortable ride. This easy to install kit includes two durable rear shocks, an Electronic Bypass Module to turn off dashboard warning lights, and an instruction manual. Arnott's new exclusive design bolts directly to the auto-leveling system with no modifications. Included are bypass sensors to wire into the auto dampening control unit to eliminate any error messages on your dash.

Since these are still air shocks, the original Air Ride Compressor will still need to be used!

ARNOTT is your source for air shocks and air suspension components for Lincoln, Ford, Cadillac, Lexus and Range Rover. Since 1989, Arnott has been designing and manufacturing quality air struts, compressors (pumps) and air bags (springs). Arnott continues to lead in research and development of new products while maintaining affordable prices.

This item is a passive conversion for models that originally came equipped with an automatic dampening (electronic) suspension.  It will fit just like the original did, bypass the factory sensors, and allow a more consistent ride thanks to a revised gas shock design.

Half the price as buying from the car dealers shop on a hard to get part, for the same part! I am very pleased. The customer service with 1A auto is amazing. 1A Auto is always my first go to for video tutorials as well! Thank you 1A Auto! I am very satisfied all the way around so far! Just installed the parts a couple weeks ago, so far so good!

The shocks worked out fine and I have recommitted them to a couple of friends. I haven’t received my core on the return of the old but all other transactions went well…Write your review here. Fit perfect on my 2003 cadilac Escalade ext Good I will buy again

These shocks are probably as good as any other you can buy but I would recommend converting away from air because with the GM air suspension once you start replacing parts of it you dont stop till its all new all the way around.

Customer Q&A
Ask a question to 1A Auto customers who purchased the product
How does this retro fit effect ride quality?
Fryd E January 27, 2016
The only retro is that these eliminate the speed sensitive dampening system. The sensors are error code eliminators. The ride quality and leveling work the same.
Brian F January 28, 2016
Works perfectly.
James B January 28, 2016
The ride is good but one has to take into consideration that this is a passive system so you wont get the full comfortable adjustable ride of the active system. For the price, it is good.
Clarence J January 28, 2016
Its identical! They work great. The rear air system will continue to operate like stock. You only lose electronic dampening with this set but I havent noticed it. I took my 2001 Tahoe on a fairly lengthy (3 days and 200 miles) off-road trail after the install and had zero issues. You do not want this set if youre trying to get rid of your air ride. Thats an entirely different package.
Jerry B January 30, 2016
Do I have to replace the front shocks too if I go with this option (the passive shock)? I want to replace only a pair at a time to see if I can fix the leak I suspect I have in the rear shocks.
Jon N May 3, 2016
No you do not. That set only fix the portion of your vehicle.
Jammie W L May 3, 2016
No you do not. I did rear alone
Josh E May 3, 2016
Right as our wonderful customers have stated you can do them separately and these will service the rear.
Derek C May 3, 2016
No, you can and should do the rears by themselves if you are experiencing a leak. Your fronts arent connected to your air ride, they only have the dampening feature and have no airlines - only electronic connectors. Ive done all four but didnt do the fronts for many months following the rears and only changed them out due to the mileage and wear on the stocks. Hope this helps.
Jerry B May 4, 2016
how can you tell if your compressor is still working?
Jonathan A June 16, 2017
You put some weight on the back. If I sit on my rear bumper mine will go off so maybe try that or hook up a trailer to your hitch. The compressor is located behind the driver side rear tire . Its not loud but you can forsure hear it run. Good luck
Tanya M June 16, 2017
If these are "passive" air shocks, my question is, what fills them with air? And why need to still use compressor?
Neil F April 27, 2018
Yes these are passive air shocks, meaning they will bypass the Autoride system. They will still fill up to level, they will just not adjust due to vehicle speed.
