Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace an exterior door handle on this 2011 Chevy Silverado 1500. It's a similar process on a large variety of GM SUVs and pickup trucks from 2007 to 2012. The tools that you'll need for this is a flat blade screwdriver, a 10mm socket and ratchet with an extension, and a pair of needle nose pliers.
Using a flat blade screwdriver, you want to remove these three panels. The one behind the door handle, this door pull handle panel, and that triangular panel at the top there. Once those are removed, you'll see there are three 10mm bolts here. We'll fast-forward as he removes those. You want to remove this little panel under this handle right here. Pry that out with your flat blade.
Now you want to remove these two 10mm bolts right here. You want to pry up that switch panel and disconnect these harnesses. Just push in the tab on the top and pull back on them. For this lead there's a tab on the back of it. You want to pry out that tab and then the clip will actually pull up and out. Now pull your lock up and there's a little panel right here, just a little clip. You want to pry that out with the flat blade screwdriver. Once you pry that out you can lift that right up and off.
Now you can start prying off the door panel. Reach behind it and give it a sharp pull to release those clips. You want to do this all the way around the panel. Once you do that you can lift it off and then you want to tilt it. Now if you go in behind the door panel here, you'll see this door handle cable door here. Using needle nose pliers, push the clip inward and you can pull that up and out. Carefully remove your water shield. We did speed the video up. You want to remove it nice and slow. Do your best not to rip or tear it.
Now you want to remove this 10mm bolt right here, and you want to release this yellow clip. And then up, further up in the door, there's this little red tab here. You want to push the rod away from it towards the outside of the door. To open that clip, you literally just pop it open. This one, like I said, push it straight back. We'll fast-forward as he removes that bolt. Now remove this cap and that 10mm bolt in there. Pull the handle out. and then push it forward a little bit. and then it's kind of a little bit moving it back and forth, up and down a little bit to get it to release out from the door.
As you can see, there's nothing wrong with our old door handle, so we're just going to show you how to do this. You would remove that rod and then install it in your new door handle, and then remove this clip. This clip holds the lock cylinder in. Use a flat blade screwdriver and pry it out. You could also use a pair of pliers. Pull it out, and then there are two ways to put it back together. You see the lock cylinder comes out. Put the lock cylinder into your new handle.
You could either do it this way, then put the clip in, or you could actually put the clip in first and then snap the lock into the door handle with the clip in it already. To reinstall the door handle, you want to put that rod back down through the door. Slide it back and push it into place. We'll fast-forward as he replaces and tightens up those 10mm bolts. You want to re-clip those rods back into place and replace that rubber cap.
You can put your water shield back. Make sure that the wire harnesses and the door cable are pulled through. You want to make sure that these door panel clips line up in those holes, and that these hooks line up in these slots. Now you want to take that door handle cable, put it back into its clip. Pull back on it and feed it into that little spot there and run all your harnesses up through where the door switch panel is.
You want to make sure that this lock tab goes up through the door panel. You want to align the door panel up on the window sill. Then once it's lined up, you can push in the clips all the way around. Take your lock, slide it back onto the tab there, and reapply that little square clip. We'll fast-forward as he replaces the two 10mm bolts under this handle here, as well as the 10mm bolt behind the door handle. Now reconnect the harnesses to the door switch panel and push it down into place. We'll continue to fast-forward as he replaces that pull handle and the two 10mm bolts to secure it. Now you want to replace those four trim panels.

Received my order on time(for anyone who does a lot of online shopping, you should know this isnt always the case). Ive ordered multiple items from 1aauto and something I like is that the items are always packaged in a way that keeps them safe from damage during delivery. Door handles and mirror covers look great and fit perfect on my 2008 Ltz Tahoe. ??
Good product

These replacement pieces worked great! You cannot tell which door handle was replaced. This happened to a different door on the same vehicle and it cost me over $400 for the dealership to fix it. It took my husband less than an hour and a lot tless than $400!!
Great product

This is really not a difficult job for the DIYer with basic tools. The door panels pop right off and accessing the handle screws is pretty straightforward. Out of the box, the handles do not feel very substantial...indeed, they feel a bit plasticy unlike the stock OEM handles on the vehicle but I was willing to give them a try. I took the first handle off the vehicle and guess what...it felt exactly the same as this replacement. I cleaned where the handle was mounted and installed three replacement from this kit. It fit up perfectly and once screwed down, felt very solid...exactly like the OEM...only this looked better.
I replaced the remaining three door handles. Not only do they look great, but they feel very solid when you used them. In fact, they actually feel more solid than the original for handles. Go figure.
As far as they mirror caps, their install wasnt as straightforward. I thought these would be covers that used double sided tape to go over the original mirrors.
Other than my name not being Jimmy. They fit well and were easy to lnstall. Just what I wanted.

I love the handles and the mirrors, they fit the way the stock handles do the only trouble is with the lock on the driver door, that does take some teaching yourself because their video doesnt show how to put the lock back in correctly so that was a learning moment for me but overall I love the quality and look of them

I was skeptical at first because I seen over products that where cover's for the mirror and door handles that cost a lot more but I knew 1aatuo has a reputation for good quality parts so bought them and I must say it was PERFECT. I watched the 1aauto video on YouTube on how to install them and did it myself (Saving a few hundred bucks) i'm not a mechanic so the first one took me about 30-45 minutes but then I was done with the over three in about an hour. The mirror covers took me about 10 minutes for both, pop the old ones off snap in the new on EXTREMELY SIMPLE. If your looking for a quality chrome look. Hands down buy it!
Looks good

My passenger exterior door handle broke off so I was looking at many different sites and they all just have ridiculous prices theyre just so expensive just for the one. Cadillac dealer wasnt even an opinion their prices are just way too expensive but I got all FOUR at 1Aauto for an amazing price and Im super satisfied, functions exactly the same it doesnt get stuck like other after market items I would definitely buy more from 1Aauto.

The quality of the handles are very good and open very smoothly , only wish the gaskets for them were better quality as the factory ones were a softer more pliable material and these gaskets are stiffer. Thats the only issue I have with them and why I didnt give them a five star , mirror caps are very nice also in quality!

I would recommend anyone to purchase this set of chrome door handles and chrome mirror caps from 1a auto, did the installation myself with only a 10mm socket and a extension for my ratchet wrench, door handles and caps went on smooth with zero problems, no leaks from gasket around the handles, came in just a couple days and gave my truck a little more pop, Preciate yall at 1a auto!

Parts look good after replacing, but I have a couple doors that are hard to open after replacing. But all the parts still work a year after replacing. Very good price, but it's not factory.
I started to get just the crome caps, but instead I ordered the crome door handles. It took a little more time, but! Well worth the effort.

I originally ordered these for my 2011 Suburban but ended up installing them on my 2013 Tahoe.
They looked great until the Minnesota winter took it's toll on the mirror covers. The chemicals used to de-ice the roads caused the mirror covers to blister. I ended up putting the original covers back on. The door handles held up to the chemicals though. Now, after several years, the right rear door handle broke. Now will see how getting it replaced under the lifetime warranty is going to work or am I going to have to purchase another one. I am not going to bother with the mirror covers as I doubt the replacement ones will survive any better than the ones I have.
Quick and easy upgrade

Handles and the chrome mirror caps were easy to swap out and look great. For those that say the mirror caps don't fit right still have a tab not fully seated, may take a couple tries to get it all fully. Only flaw is the spring in the driver side door handle you can hear but hoping it goes away after it's pulled a few times
