How to Replace Pitman Arm 95-00 Chevy Tahoe PART 2

As a continuation of the pitman arm repair, this video the reinstallation procedure, including the torque specs for 1988-1998 GM Truck and 1992-2000 GM SUV models.

  1. step 1 : Remove the pitman arm from the steering box
    • Use a pitman arm puller to remove the pitman arm
  2. step 2 : install the new pitman arm
    • Make sure the new pitman arm goes on the same way the old one was on there.
    • Put the nut onto the pitman arm and tighten it, to press the arm on and take it off.
    • Put the lock washer on and then the nut again.
  3. step 3 : install the steering box
    • Mount the steering box into place
    • Start bolting the steering box in.
    • Make sure you aren’t pinching any hoses with the steering box.
    • Hook the pitman arm into the center link and thread on the bolt.
    • Connect the linkage to the steering box and bolt in the link bolt, which you want to torque to 35-40 ft lbs.
    • Connect and tighten up the power steering hoses.
    • Torque the steering box mounting bolts to 120 ft lbs.
    • Torque the nut connecting the pitman arm to the center link to 80 ft lbs.
    • Top off your power steering fluid.
    • Turn the car on, turn the wheel back and forth a few times, and double check your power steering fluid levels.

Very affordable. I would recommend this kit just not to someone with little to no experience. It is a time consuming repair but to be able to buy as a kit made it all worth it for me. I also installed a steering damper as well to make sure I don't ever have to tackle that job again.

I ordered this kit thinking ehh it’s everything I need it’ll work well this kit is great high quality mostly serviceable but if you get a needle fitting for your grease gun that will work plus lifetime warranty YES!!!! I have recommended 1A auto to everyone I work with I work in a mechanic shop and have been doing mechanic work for a long time definitely beets Autozone special y’all enjoy!!!

Great parts kit. Came with about everything you need for a complete front suspension rebuild. Installed it on a 1997 K 1500 with every part a perfect match. Very good quality parts. No all parts have grease zerks that's the only down side. Easy fix I just drilled and tapped the new ones and install grease points. I would recommend it to anyone wanting to DIY. Mark D

My parts worked great and shipping was fast the only reason I’m not giving five stars is because my kit didn’t come with my sway bar links like it was suppose to.. I called them and they shipped them to me no questions asked Can’t beat the prices!!!

Everything went together well, only down side is the sway bar links weren’t the correct ones. However my truck didn’t have them in before I got this kit, so leaving them out was no big deal, was just going to throw them in because the kit came with them. Overall very impressed with the quality of this product for such a low price. Recommend popping the bushings apart and greasing them before install to help longevity.

ZERO thread integrity. I'm baffled by the lack of thread integrity on all of the ball joints. None, not one of the tie-rod ends or adjuster sleeves had a salvageable thread. The only thing in this kit that was usable for me were the idler arm and bracket, pitman arm and sway bar links. Fortunately the refund process was easy. So at least the customer service on the other end was nice. But TRQ parts have soured me. Get what you pay for I suppose. Thanks China

All products in the kit work and for great. The tie rods were even thicker than factory which I liked but. All parts fit for good. The only reason I gave it 3 starts was because none of the ball joints out tie rods have no grease zerk so you can't grease them. So the parts will have to be changed instead of greased

How do you tell if you have stamped control arms (95 Yukon)?

Stamped steel control arms will be hollow, forged steel control arms will be solid. Stamped steel will also have a more visible weld line, forged steel will still have a line from the casting, however, it is not a weld line.

I wouldn’t this so all of this basically replaces the parts to do so maybe the control arm but only if it needs to be and of course if other parts are broken like the sway bar and etc I’m not a mechanic by the way I watch videos and do things myself
