In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the cam shaft position sensor on this 2005 Ford F150 with the 4.6-liter V8 engine. It's the same part and similar part on these F150s with this engine from 2000 to 2005. The items you'll need for this are a new cam shift position sensor from 1AAuto.com, and an 8mm socket and ratchet.
Start off by pushing on this tab and pulling this hose free. Then loosen up this hose clamp for your 8mm socket and ratchet. Do the same thing to this hose clamp right here. Then pull the air intake hose free and set it aside. Down here is your cam shaft position sensor. Just push on the tab on this harness and disconnect it. Then remove the 8mm bolt at the bottom of the sensor. We'll fast-forward as Mike does this. Once the bolt's removed, plug your harness back in, and then that helps to pull it out. Just maneuver it up and down until you can pull it free. Then push the tab on the harness and disconnect it again.
On the left is the old cam shaft position sensor; on the right is the new one from 1A Auto. You can see they're identical and will fit exactly the same.
Take your new sensor and push it into place. Make sure it's pushed all the way in. Then replace that 8mm bolt and tighten it up. Reconnect your harness. Take your air intake hose and push it back into place. Once you've got it all the way into place, tighten up those two hose clamps. Then reconnect this hose.

All right, friends. To find our cam position sensors, I'm gonna let you know there's two of them. There's gonna be one over on the passenger side, and then there's gonna be one located over on the driver side, right above the power steering pump. To replace these, what you'd wanna do is go ahead and press on the tab that's in the center of the wiring harness. And then go ahead and draw this right off of there. I always like to look at the wiring to make sure I don't see any funny colors. Assuming it looks good, set it aside. Now, we're just gonna go ahead and remove the mounting bolt that's located right underneath where the wiring harness was.
Grab onto that sensor, give it a little wiggle, see if you can slide it out. If, for some reason you can't, you can use something and just carefully pry on it. You just wanna be careful not to break it off into the engine. Get that out of there. Let's just go ahead and clean up the area. Just twist as you push this in. Let's install our mounting bolt. Let's go ahead and torque this to 89-inch pounds. Let's go ahead and reconnect it in now. Listen for the click, give it a nice tug. Okay. Now, all you need to do is go ahead and start up your vehicle and make sure you don't have a check engine light.
