2006 Cadillac SRX Glove Box Latch
Not being real mechanical I watched the video that A1 Auto provided of this latch installation and felt confident it would be easy to do. The removal of the old, the removal of the lock, and the install of all was exactly as the video showed and was very easy. It took very little time, and in Texas heat that is a blessing. Cadillac said it would cost $220. 1A Auto part was $55.95. This is the way to go!

how to remove and replace the lock?

BEST ANSWER: There are two screws on the back of the latch. Remove those to remove the latch and then reverse the procedure. You may find it easier to thread the new latch with the screw before affixing. It takes about 15 minutes and is easy. Be sure to support the back of the plastic door as you remove and affix the latches. Use a Philips screwdriver that fits the screws to avoid stripping. Use a hand screwdriver not a powered one.
