  1. step : Removing the Wheel (0:55)
    • Loosen the 22mm lug nuts with the vehicle on the ground
    • Raise the vehicle with a floor jack
    • Secure the vehicle on jack stands
    • Remove the lug nuts
    • Pull off the wheel
  2. step : Removing the Brake Drum (1:15)
    • Pry off the Phillips head screws with a hammer and impact driver and turn the driver counterclockwise
    • Tighten an M12 bolt into the drum to pull it off
    • Pull off the drum
  3. step : Removing the Brake Shoes (2:47)
    • Remove the brake shoe springs with the vise grip pliers
    • Twist off the front retaining spring with the vise grip pliers
    • Press in the front retaining pin in place by hand
    • Slide off the retaining clips with a flat blade screwdriver
    • Remove the pad
    • Twist off the rear retaining spring with the vise grip pliers
    • Remove the rear brake shoe
  4. step : Installing the New Brake Shoes (4:07)
    • Clean the backing plate friction points with a wire brush
    • Apply white grease to the friction points
    • Lift the front brake shoe into place
    • Twist on the retaining spring with vise grip pliers
    • Put the rear brake shoe into place
    • Push in to reset the parking brake
    • Twist on the retaining spring with vise grip pliers
    • Put the adjuster into place
    • Thread the retaining pin into the brake shoe
    • Lock the retaining clip in place
    • Hook the springs on with the vise grip pliers
    • Push out on the pad and push in on the adjustor swivel with a flat blade screwdriver to make sure it's in place
  5. step : Installing the Brake Drum (7:00)
    • Try to slide the brake drum on
    • If necessary turn the adjuster wheel with a flat blade screwdriver
    • The brake rotor should slide on with some resistance
    • Insert the two Phillips head screws to the drum
  6. step : Reattaching the Wheel (8:10)
    • Slide the wheel into place
    • Start the lug nuts by hand
    • Tighten the lug nuts preliminarily
    • Lower the vehicle to the ground
    • Tighten the lug nuts to 100 foot-pounds in a crossing or star pattern

Great/Affordable Brake replacements
These are a direct replacement for an 02 escort and it now stops like a brand new car. The drum shoes work great with the emergency brake to hold the car steady on our steep driveway as well. I would recommend this site to anyone looking for affordable maintenance parts.
