  • Direct replacements
  • Built to strict quality control standards

Worn ball joints can cause excessive front tire wear, popping or creaking in the front end, extra play in the steering system, and pose a serious safety concern. Replace loose or worn ball joints with our quality replacements.

One way to diagnose a loose, or warn ball joint, is to jack the car up, so the wheel is off of the ground, then have someone try to move the wheel in and out. While they are moving the wheel check the ball joint for play, if it is moving you probably need to replace it.

Remember whenever you are replacing any front end or steering components you should have your vehicle professionally aligned as soon as possible. This will ensure proper tracking and even tire wear.

Our steering and suspension components are pre-greased and sealed for long life and do not require the extra maintenance typically required by greasable versions.

  1. step : Install the new ball joint (0:40)
    • Set up the ball joint in the ball joint press.
    • Get the top of the ball joint flush with the top of the control arm.
    • Readjust the press, taking the rubber boot off and get the control arm the rest of the way in.
    • Replace the rubber boot.
    • Lock it into place with a snap ring.
    • If you have snap ring pliers, this is much easier but you can do it without them.

    • Lower the jack stand from the control arm.
    • Thread the nut onto the ball joint.
    • Put the grease fitting on the ball joint.
  3. step : Install the axle (3:36)
    • Get the axle into the hub and transmission.
    • Torque the bolts to 60 foot pounds, using a star pattern to secure the axle evenly.
  4. step : Put the tie rod back on (4:22)
    • Torque the ball joint nut to 98 foot pounds and secure with a cotter pin.
    • Fill the lower ball joint grease fitting with grease using a grease gun.
    • Torque the tie rod nut to 60 ft lbs and secure with a cotter pin.
  5. step : Install the stabilizer link. (5:48)
    • Thread the washers and bushings onto the link.
    • Jack the control arm up and tighten the stabilizer link nuts to 15-16 ft lbs.
    • Thread the hub nut on.
    • Lower the jack from the suspension.
    • Retighten the torsion bar to the mark you made earlier.
  6. step : Put the wheel back on (7:35)
    • Thread the lug nuts on.
    • Lower the vehicle.
    • Torque the lug nuts in a star pattern to 100 ft lbs.
    • Torque the hub nut to 220 ft lbs using your 35 mm socket.
