Wear and Tear

This item is backed by a warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under its intended use. The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear. Please keep your invoice for proof of this warranty.

  1. step : Removing the Wheel (0:44)
    • Remove the center cap with a cap removal tool or pick
    • Loosen the 17mm lug nuts with the vehicle on the ground
    • Raise the vehicle with a floor jack
    • Secure the vehicle on jack stands evenly on both sides
    • Remove the lug nuts
    • Pull off the wheel
  2. step : Inspecting the Brakes (1:46)
    • Turn the rotor by hand or turn the steering wheel to turn the rotor
    • Check the thickness of the brake pads
    • Check the brake pad wear indicator
    • Check for gouges on both sides of the rotor
  3. step : Removing the Brake Pads (2:15)
    • Press the tab and disconnect the brake sensor
    • Remove the two rubber caps
    • Remove 7mm Allen bolts from the brake caliper
    • Pry out the clip on the caliper
    • Pry the brake pads into the caliper with a flat blade screwdriver to push in the pistons
    • Pull the caliper aside and wire tie it to the knuckle to relieve brake hose stress
    • Pry the brake pads off with a flat blade screwdriver
    • Remove the brake pad slides
  4. step : Removing the Rotor (4:12)
    • Remove the T30 bolt from the rotor
    • Remove the 21mm bolts on the backside of the rotor
    • Remove bolts from the brake caliper bracket
    • Pull off the brake caliper bracket
    • Pull the rotor off
  5. step : Slide the Rotor On (4:42)
    • Line up and press the rotor in place
    • Tighten the T30 bolt to the rotor
    • Tighten the 21mm bolts to the backside
    • Clean the rotor with brake parts cleaner or mineral spirits
    • Put the caliper bracket back into place
    • Find out if you have M12 or M14 bolts on the backside
    • Tighten the M12 bolts to 96 foot-pounds of torque
    • Tighten the M14 bolts to 148 foot-pounds of torque
  6. step : Installing the New Brake Pads (5:42)
    • Put an old pad in the caliper
    • Use a large C-clamp and the new pad to push the pistons back
    • Install the second brake pad
    • Put the caliper on
    • Reconnect the brake sensor wire
    • Thread 7mm Allen bolts
    • Tighten bolts to 18 foot-pounds
    • Insert the spring to the caliper
  7. step : Reattaching the Wheel (8:46)
    • Slide the wheel into place
    • Start the 17mm lug nuts by hand
    • Tighten the lug nuts preliminarily
    • Lower the vehicle to the ground
    • Tighten the lug nuts to 90 foot-pounds in a star pattern
    • Reattach the center cap
  8. step : Testing the Brakes (8:40)
    • Pump your brakes repeatedly until they feel firm
    • Test your brakes at 5 miles per hour and then 10 miles per hour
    • Road test the vehicle

The best braking performance Ive ever had
The braking performance is amazing there is little to no brake dust and noise and my Audi stops better then it ever have and it makes the car look even more sportier .. I strongly recommend these brakes to any body who drives there car hard and want to make there car stop good short and make it look like nice

Excellent fit and finish
Amateur mechanic, years and years of experience. To be honest I had not heard of Nakamoto brakes until I visited 1A Auto’s website. I had previously purchased parts here for my Toyota Highlander and happened to be in the market for brakes for my Audi. Anyway, I have had the Nakamoto brake rotors and pads (plus hardware) on the car for about a week and I am happy to report the kit is a winner. Everything fit very nicely and the quality of the parts is first rate. Super nice packaging. (Sturdy boxes and all parts shrink-wrapped or bagged.) Even the slider clips snapped into place and stayed in place perfectly. When is the last time you had clips actually fit without having to bend them to make them fit? Even OEM ones. They are usually a pain. Not these. My car has the big brakes from the 2005 S4 so they were pretty good binders to begin with. But with the new Nakamoto Performance brakes the car stops noticeably better. “Track day� grade? Well maybe, but what I like is the progressive feel of these ceramic pads. No more “Audi grab� i.e. that annoying initial bite as exhibited by semi-metallic pads typical of European cars. Much-much smoother around town. Of course the whole story is not told until some miles have been racked up. I will update this review with more comments once I’ve had some history with the brakes. As for now I continue to be impressed every time I drive the car. Update: June 9, 2018 About 3,100 miles on the brakes since installed. Every day (sometimes spirited) driving, mixed city/highway. After a few hundred miles I noticed much better stopping power as the pads and rotors seated in, yet they still have a smooth progressive feel in slow city traffic. The rotor slots and vent holes can be heard buzzing but only under hard-hard braking. I had a couple of occasions to really “stand� on the brakes on dry pavement. Wow. I think I lost a tooth filling. Hehe. Amazing stopping power. Just gives me another level of confidence in this already great performing car. Outstanding!

Absolutely fantastic brakes. No dust, and much more stopping power than factory Audi. Bed them in properly, and enjoy! Several thousand miles after the install, and theres NO sign of wear. Ill buy these again and again.
