Customer Q&A
Ask a question to 1A Auto customers who purchased the product
is this a plug in unit ?
Carolyn B August 27, 2016
Yes, there is a plug at the back of the little storage box in the dash that just plugs in
Corey S August 27, 2016
Once you get the facia off it is. I havent installed mine yet because I havent needed trailer brakes so I cant say with 100% certainty, but the unit has the proper Ford part number and should be a breeze. For the reprogramming of the info center (display) you would need to go to Ford, and they may balk, (because they didnt sell the part etc.) but I do not intend to pay them to do it nor do I expect any problems.
Michael B August 27, 2016
No. Not exactly. Find a YouTube video that shows how to disassemble the dash and install this unit. It takes about 30 to 45 minutes for this step. Then after the little cubby is removed the plug that is attached to this cubby plugs into this unit. Then you have to put the dash back together.
Russell B August 27, 2016
Yes and know. You need to remove a few of the dash panels to install the unit, then you just plug it in, whole job takes about 45 minutes. You will need to get the unit flashed to the trucks computer by a Ford dealer, $50 - $100. There are several videos on line to shoe panels to remove and how to do it, just enter year of truck. Good luck.
David A August 27, 2016
Yes, BUT you need to take part of the dash apart to get the little tray out before you can plug the unit in. Then you need to take the pickup to a Ford dealer to get the compute flashed to recognize the controller. Check the You Tube videos. It is relatively simple to do. Glen B

Carolyn, it is a plug in.Ford dealer put his scan gauge on truck so it would recognize part Hope this help Lee
Lee M August 28, 2016
Yes. The manufacturer has a wire harness and plug behind the dash at the location. You will have to go to the dealer to have it programmed once you install it. Go to YouTube and there are installation instruction videos.
Gary F August 28, 2016
Its does plug into the harness and does need to be flashed by the dealer to recognized and operate
