The fog light were a challenge to install because my car was not pre-wired. Not a problem as I got a IPDM service connector and for light connectors from Nissan. Once you install wire the lights, and install the body control module recognizes the fog lamp input and turns on the lights. The lights and switch work flawlessly. Buy this kit even if you just need a switch as it's $100.00 cheaper than getting the switch separately.

Do I have to run wires to steering colum or is there a plug in the bumber they plug into?

If your car is prewired, you can just plug in and go. In the fuse box there will be wires coming out of the fog light slots and will run to the light location. The plug ends will be taped on either side. Passenger is taped to bottom of windshield washer reservoir and driver side is taped near the light slot towards the radiator. You will need to undo the side splash guards to check for plugs. Hope this helps.
