Wear and Tear

This item is backed by a warranty against defects in materials and workmanship under its intended use. The warranty does not cover normal wear and tear. Please keep your invoice for proof of this warranty.

  1. step : Removing the Wheel (0:58)
    • Pry off the lug nut covers with a flat blade screwdriver
    • Loosen the lug nuts with the vehicle on the ground
    • Raise the vehicle with a floor jack
    • Secure the vehicle on jack stands
    • Remove the lug nuts
    • Pull off the wheel
  2. step : Removing the Brake Pads (1:27)
    • Remove the two 18mm bolts from the brake caliper
    • Pull the caliper aside
    • Pry the brake pads out of the caliper with a flat blade screwdriver
  3. step : Removing the Brake Rotor (3:04)
    • Hold the rotor in place with a screwdriver
    • Remove the 10mm bolt from the brake rotor
    • Thread one lug nut and strike the hub area of the rotor with the ball end of a ball peen hammer
    • Pull the rotor off
  4. step : Preparing the Brake Caliper (3:57)
    • Put the caliper into place
    • Thread the two 18mm bolts into the caliper
    • Attach a large C-clamp to the caliper
    • Turn the C-clamp to push the piston into the caliper
    • Remove the C-clamp
    • Remove the two 18mm bolts
    • Pull the caliper aside
  5. step : Installing the New Brake Rotor (4:32)
    • Slide the rotor on
    • Insert the 10mm bolt into the rotor
  6. step : Installing the New Brake Pads (4:52)
    • Install the new brake pads into the caliper
    • Put the caliper on
    • Thread the two 18mm bolts by hand
    • Tighten the 18mm bolts to 90 foot-pounds
    • Push the caliper brace into the caliper
  7. step : Reattaching the Wheel (8:09)
    • Slide the wheel into place
    • Start the lug nuts by hand
    • Tighten the lug nuts preliminarily
    • Lower the vehicle to the ground
    • Tighten the lug nuts to 100 foot-pounds in a crossing or star pattern
    • Push the lug nut covers by hand
  8. step : Testing the Brakes (9:13)
    • Pump your brakes repeatedly until they feel firm
    • Test your brakes at 5 miles per hour and then 10 miles per hour
    • Road test the vehicle
